The crews of these flimsy little ships/boats were paid 'hard lying' bonus money for the discomfort of serving on them - crew was 50+ of which I guess the larger part were stokers - not turbines at this date - triple expansion engines - they could push these things at 27 knots, although that would only be in a flat calm!

Don’t think they were ocean going at this time were they Dave? Torpedo boats were inshore craft, so presumably Torpedo Boat Destroyers were likewise inshore craft?

A windy bridge is a bridge that is rather exposed,....open to the elements,if you like.
As such,if standing on said bridge, you could get rather chilly ..
... And it could indeed feel "Windy"
            ........ Discuss.....

              Nonsense.
A windy bridge is one that doesn't run in a straight line but wiggles it's way over a river ,canal, railway line etc. You're talking about a windy bridge which is something quite different.
              Jon.

It was meant tongue in cheek, the "Discuss" bit,was just to round it off in the relevant lingo ....
Nevermind, was just meant to raise a smile in this oppressive heat

Had one or two models from Mikro Mir - they're very much limited run, but of unusual subjects. I'm keeping an eye out for one of their 'K - Class' Steam Submarines from WWI ( but at a price that I like! )

A very intricate model as I recall.....might have been Andrew, but my memory is as good as Smitty's so could be anyone. Come to think of it, it might have been part of a group build.................Yep, just checked.....it was Lee's Soviet Armor GB, and the Winner is Gerry!! So Nick, Check out the 2022 GB page and you will have good inside info on the ins and outs of doing an Aerosan. :thumb2:
