Good move Lee.....glad to hear things will be a little easier on you from here on out. Is your little "dump" truck a 10 wheeler or is it really small? Post up a pic. If you get a chance. :thumb2:

I'm glad you can relax a bit :thumb2:
...and I hope your new job will give you more satisfactions, at least on the human relationships side; a "personnel oriented" firm, when found, is something needing the WWF protection or enter UNESCO heritage.:smiling3:

      Andrea.
P.S: I was another one "baited" by your thread title! :rolling::smiling6:

Great news about the semi-retirement, the new job being much closer and of course the increased bench time you'll hopefully see!!

          Hello Lee,
I retired a few years ago from truck driving, all over Europe, Turkey and Russia after 30 years on the road. Never really saw my daughter grow up, went through a couple of divorces, no visits to the dentist - just wait till they wobble and pull them out, cuts and lumps had to be treated in the cab. The good side was that I got to go and see countries I would never visit, and meet some real people instead of the city folks. Do I miss it, not one minute, in the summer I can sit in the garden pretending to garden, and in the winter I can cuddle up to a warm body...
Good luck with the new job, it will be strange for a while untill you get sorted out.
Me - I drive a bench now and drive the missus crazy - but it keeps me sane.
          Mike.

That boredom will soon go away once SWMBO notices you staring out into nothingness - I made that mistake when I answered "Nothing...."

I once had a job that involved a commute of an hour and a half each way, sometimes 3 hours if the traffic was bad. I added the travelling hours up and realised I was effectively 'working' a seven day week.
                I moven house.

Lee, I've just signed in after being away from a few days and just read your thread title. Frightened me ridged at first, thinking you were leaving S.M.!

Great to read you are 'Back Peddling' a bit. All you need to do sooner rather than later is retire completely. Then like me and other layabouts on here you too can enjoy every week consisting of 6 Saturdays and a Sunday!

All the best to you Bud. :thumb2:

I worked for a New York City agency for nigh on 25 years and traveled an hour and a half each way every day.:confounded:
I retired from that job (electrical engineer) and moved to a remote mountain location and started a logging business
from scratch. That was nearly 20 years ago and now I'm retired from that business (my sons run it now) though you would never
                    guess it.

The very best of luck and do enjoy playing with your "little dumpie"

                    Jim.
Thanks Jim looks like you was feeling my pain all those years too.

I do have a question though.
You retired or changed your job?
Working 7am to 3:30pm is not what I call retired lol.
Ian. My company I worked for 25 years called it retiring they had a small send off for me and a gift because I was there so many years but the hours I have at my new job I’m going to feel like it’s semi retirement.

Thanks Rick I’m already feeling the relaxation from my new job. My boss told me to take the truck home every day after work so here you go. It’s a little Peterbilt single axle dump Click image for larger version
