    Decal removal

    Mornin'
As the title suggests I'm after a proven method for getting a decal off a model, without causing too much damage to the surface beneath.
Any ideas would be much appreciated chaps

I can't help Andy but I imagine that if you've put a coat of sealing varnish over the decal it becomes very much harder. I'll be interested in the replies.

With decals that adhere well, the only reliable method I’ve so far found is scraping with a knife … but that kind of goes against the “without causing too much damage” requirement

          Cheers Jakko,
It might come to that if no other method comes to light......
..... The bloody thing has to come off one way or another!!

According to the bottle, Mr. Smiff, Micro Set can also be used for decal removal. Might be worth a try Andy...

I did try that last night Allen but the thing wouldn't budge apart from "scrunching" up a bit

Copious amounts of Micro Sol will soften and wrinkle the offending beast allowing careful removal with a blade!

Have you tried using a pin to gently prick the decal several times and then brushing more Micro Set on it? The only other idea would be sandblasting it off, but that is rather extreme...

..... the more I think about it,the more appealing sandblasting the ruddy thing gets!!
