    I clearly fell for the sucker punch advertising but it does look very good and feels as solid and well put together as my other two AB's.

    The nozzle is different to yours but the thought of not having to find a wrench each time and risk losing the nozzle, or damaging it every time I take it off was appealing. Apparently the needle is made of a 'bendy' steel that makes it less prone to being damaged......will have to see how that works.... :thinking:

    Even if it proves to be a bit worse than my other two, I will use it as a dedicated primer AB and keep my other two for the finer paint work.

    Bendy steel? Usual damage to needles is bent tips, so I don’t see how that works…..unless they mean spring steel, which would make much more sense…

      You’ve got three choices for that, as far as I can tell: Commander’s Models in traditionally cast resin, Vargas Models in 3D-printed resin, or scratchbuilding. As I didn’t feel like that last one, I figured that if I have to have an expensive kit shipped halfway around the world, I might as well go for the middle option.

      Here are the main parts you get:

      What I do find slightly weird is that this took two weeks to reach me from the USA (the label says it was mailed on 3 June, it arrived just now on the 17th). Yet I’m still waiting for an order of two figures from a UK-based manufacturer, which I purchased in early April …
      That looks to be a very well-considered bit of 3D printing, Jakko-hopefully it will be worth the money.
      If I may advise using nice sharp snips to remove the supports, rather than a scalpel, as the pressure can result in parts snapping. Once you've dealt with that top line of teeth the rest might even snap off quite easily,but I would be wary,just in case.
      Hope that helps?

          Spring steel might be prone to rusting Andrew, so it’s probably worthwhile making sure the airbrush is dry before storing it.

            Noted, although I am very particular on that front any way and before storing away leave it disassembled for a good 24 hrs to dry properly - at least I hope so!

              Not a camera trick, there are two of them! £8.99 each ( + p&p ) - at that price, I slipped two into my basket - not ebay, or pre-qwned. - a UK retailer - still in shrink wrap. The Emhar Whippet was one of their better products ( unlike the tanks! )

                Not the "prettiest" of mechanical creations, but for the money the seem a pretty good value.......is there a small diorama in their future?

                    At the moment, one is for the stash, the other for making - not a diorama. but with a nice base ( 3D printed of course )

                      I’m beginning to have a little doubt about that The tracks are noticeably too narrow, by over a millimetre, and I don’t see any way to correct them. Not just because of the way they’ve been printed in one piece, but also because there is no suitable alternative (even though it looks like Sherman track, IRL these were about 5 cm narrower than that, but they were also about 4 cm wider than Stuart track).

                      Thanks for the advice I had good results using snippers on 3D-printed Crab flail chains, so I was planning on using them here too, but it helps a lot to have that confirmed by someone with more experience in this kind of thing than I have.

                      By Emhar standards, that statement is true But a modern kit, this isn’t — it wasn’t even at the time it was released, TBH. I’ve got one mostly built that I started detailling 20+ years ago, but put back into its box because I didn’t feel like all the work anymore.

                        Firstly sincerest apologies for not being around much this week. Just couldn't find the time somehow.

                        So the follow have turned up in the past couple of weeks......

                        The tow cables are for my current and some other long stalled builds. I actually managed to get these half price (incl. p&p) because of a load of loyalty points I have with the vendor. The odd thing is that both the StuG and Pz IV versions come with an odd number of eyes for no obvious reason....3 in one case and 5 in the other but only three cables between them rather than four....and that's how they come, they're not faulty sets....

                        This Eduard forced itself into my eBay basket.....it's from a retailer I have used on a number of occasions and for some unknown reason he is currently selling new kits at ridiculous prices.....cheapest 'normal' price for this is £29 delivered.....this cost me just over £17.....delivered....40% cheaper. It would of course have been rude not to!

                        I'm still not sure why I bought the below AB as I already have two perfectly good - if not deluxe - ABs but I think I have got a good deal.

                        These are a new company (apparently Chinese made) but only available on Amazon's US site. I first saw them on a UK YouTube channel called Gary's Stuff (HERE) but the US' Barbatos Rex also reviewed them (HERE)....and they both raved about them.

                        Initial thoughts are very good:
                        • Very nicely packaged although it got a bit creased when it was forced through the letter box ;
                        • Nice set of instructions, including a full parts list in diagram form;
                        • Each AB is tested before it leaves the factory and they include the test card (gimmicky??);
                        • 0.35mm and 0.5mm needles/nozzles;
                        • Seals are PTFE, not rubber;
                        • Two different size screw in paint cups (1/4 and 1/2 fl. Oz [7mm and 14mm)], both with lids;
                        • Whilst these cups are very large, the AB can be used without them if you have a small amount of paint due to its design; you can just drop it into the hole;
                        • Apparently the needle is made of 'spring/springy' steel that makes it less prone to being damaged (see c. 6:30 on Barbatos Rex video).....will have to see how that works;
                        • They do seem to be very nicely built and not at all cheap;
                        • They come with a quick release attachment, lube and spare seals;
                        • but what really got my attention was that it has one of those compression fit, self-centering nozzles that you don't have to screw in and risk stripping the thread on - just like the Iwata Eclipse SBS, albeit a different shape.

                        The Gary's Stuff channel has arranged a 20% discount via Amazon, which wiped out the tax I had to pay and so even with the $9 delivery it only cost me £45.

                        If it's as good as they say, then I can see this making a really good entry level AB for the novice....but I still can't quite work out why I bought it....

                        I might do a mini review after I've used it a bit.

                        ATB

                        Andrew

                        Looks a winner, would like to see your review Andrew.

                            that's where I got the Whippets from - with my hand still not working properly, I've been browsing the lesser known retailers, which takes a bit of time. Too hot for benchtime anyway!

                              Good morning all!

                              So as most of you will know, today is Father's Day here in the UK and below is what I woke up to!

                              Although she is still at school, Junioress has a very good part time job and so she gave me a very generous budget for this year, along with some help from Junior.

                              Whilst some of it is run of the mill, I used most of her generosity to treat myself to things I could not ordinarily justify - two examples being the Churchill tracks and the box in front of the Zero, which is a long out of production (and not cheap) resin upgrade set for my 1/72 Halifax bomber.

                              I also used it as an opportunity to get some of AK's 3rd Gen paints, which I have heard great things about. I have to stick to water based paints as my set up is in the kitchen, ruling out lacquers!

                              All in all I'm very pleased with haul...........not least the giant bar of Toblerone!

                              Oh and wasn't it nicely presented too!
