Are you able to claim on the insurance for any of it?

Thanks Andrew, yes will claim on my insurance for some of it, you know what insurance companies can be like. The last time I had to claim they were very good and quick.
The agents have said they will pursue the woman and claim back from her. Of course PIGS FLY, if she doesn't pay they will get nothing. Full of bull shit when I comes to outlining the legal steps they will take.

Thank you so much everyone, I hope I've replied to you all.
Got to accept that its happened and things are now moving to put it all right.
Have tried to do some modelling, painting wise, but find I loose interest very quickly, need to get a grip and put it out of my mind, which is hard.

      On ward .

Blimey what a thing to happen John!

Like the guys have said, I hope you can get the whole episode dealt with and out of the way quickly.

Seems to be a sign of the times as we’ve had a few of these cannabis factories discovered around our way In the last few years.

What happened to John and Christine is deplorable and inexcusable.
The criminals will get away with all the damage they have caused, and I do not mean the dope growers, I mean the heavy-handed useless things that sit around in their brightly coloured disability cars posing with their hands either on their bra's or in their pockets and use any excuse in the world to justify their actions - and when caught out turn to page three of the excuse manual and plead "We will all learn from our mistakes...."
Like John, he knew the person through the letting agent only as a business transaction. Last July I knew my attacker only through a confrontation a pensioner neighbour had with ferral brats over kicking their football against her outside wall. And despite naming this gutless wnaker, telling the useless ones where he lived, they did nothing and have done nothing....
Over the years I have lost all respect for the police and justice system, it has been gradually eroded away with their constant harrassment of truck drivers, car drivers who they see as a cheap form of income and a good way to boost their end of month arrest records down to the theives and worse just being allowed to walk free or be handed down ludicrous minor sentances, which sadly in Johns case will be the usual mouthpeice of a solicitor and then the weak thirty something middle class social worker who will plead that the dope grower was from a broken home, mothers only income was from her nightly customers, daddy was on his toes the minute pregnancy was said, there was no social connection only the ipad, slyvirg tv package, xbox, weekly visits to the foodbank and the hundred£ in Universal Credit just does not stretch far enough......
And again the victim will be looked at as the perpetrator as John will and as I did.... Did John deserve this, and did I deserve this....

Thanks Doug. The police have cost me at least £1600 for a door, when removing a lower sealed unit in the front door would have been just as good. When my mother was burgled in the same house a few years ago they were hopeless, even telling her not to let any one in by the door. She was very quick to remind them in some rather unlady like terms that the burglar came through a window !

Yes Si, and thanks for the comment. Now insurances companies have reduced the amount they will pay out for damage caused by this happening.

You have the statutory right that the police should apply for compensation to the courts services for you John. You are a victim of this crime because it is you that is directly affected. That compensation must include damages they’ve caused as a result of their investigation. They are obligated to apply for this on your behalf and for making sure the courts are aware.
You may also be entitled to something because the letting agents have failed to carry out their contracted tasks correctly.
Seriously, if you haven’t yet, I would take legal advice if I were you.

But how they get around it is to say that if they went in ham fisted and there was no crime, and sorry it was all a big mistake, and we will learn from our mistakes.... That is when they will own up and pay compensation.
But how they wriggle out of it is to imply that the victim somehow knew about the crime and therefore no compensation.
That was how it was put to me... They (police) tried to put it that I was in fact the instigator which resulted in the attack on myself - but in reality it was one of the feral kids mother that had instigated everything by throwing a housebrick through the pensioners kitchen window, and I only became involved when I was asked to make the window safe... You can see how this went, I was in fact brought into the argument and when it came to proportioning the blame all fingers from the perpetrators pointed my way....

Maybe Mike, but John’s case is totally different. He is clearly the victim, because it is his property that has been damaged, and he knew nothing about this until after the event, so there is nothing he can be accused of in retaliation. The police have a statutory obligation to put the correct paperwork in place and inform the courts. The amount of compensation, and who pays, is then for the judiciary to decide, not the police or the defendants. It’s definitely one for legal advice.

I knew nothing, was not the instigator and up untill I was asked to make the window safe was totally ignorant of what was going on outside - but still got drawn into something I knew nothing about.
