Very nice E-Type Jason; I want one. Looks huge though, I'd have nowhere to display it...

Hi Tony thanks for that buddy, I`ve always liked the look of the Komintern tractor, haven`t made my mind up if it`s going to tow a big soviet gun or in the service of Fritz and co

The Wifey bought me this little lot for our forth coming wedding anniversary, better than after shave

These dropped through the letter-box today, so I'm going to try and sneak out at the weekend and see if I can find something to stick them on ( weather permitting !!)

              Cheers, Neil

That's the plan Dave. I'm hoping to get the new Airfix F.2A and convert it to a F.6/F.53-ish. I know the numbers won't be correct, but I'll let the rivet counters sort that out......

                  Cheers, Neil

That's from the old Matchbox kit, isn't it? Does anyone know if the Saudis used the single-seat version, and if so would the new Airfix kit be correct for it? Sorry, don't know my Lightnings very well...

Yes, they are Mike. The Saudi's did have single seaters, designated the F.53, which was a slightly modded F.6, which in turn was a modded F.2A, I think the basic airframe was the same, it was armament packs and avionics that were changed.

I believe the only major visible difference between the F.2A and F.6 was the move of the cannon from the nose to front of the ventral tank, which I think I can handle. However, as I too am not a Lightning expert, I stand to be corrected....

I hope this is the case, otherwise I'll either have to use the Trumpeter kit which has issues, or wait for the Airfix F.6 release, the date of which I don't know.

I will see if I still have my photo's of the Saudi Lightnings and T33's I took while working out there.

Hopefully they are not amongst the belongings my ex disposed of.

                            Hmmmmmmmmmmm, possibly.........

This is a Lightning F.53 at the City of Norwich Air Museum. the F.53 was the export version of the F.6.

So I think the Airfix kit should do very nicely.

Thanks for your responses Neil, Gregg and Andy, that's very helpful. I've always liked Saudi aircraft - I've done a Hunter and an F-86 - so I think I'll pick up the new Airfix Lightning kit. Cheers.
