I did my bit to clear TK Maxx's shelf today. Five models for £35 and they all look like new or recently tooled kits.

This arrived from John at Scale Model Shop this morning, super service as usual John

This is the first of three 1/9 bikes I will be building. My daughter has ordered me the 1/9 WWII Triumph and the Harley Davidson. Looks like I will be painting army green again much sooner than expected

This bike, the Norton 500cc was ridden by Geoff Duke to win the 1951 Senior TT on the Isle of Man within a day or so of my birth. As a teanager I grew up with Norton, BSA and Triumph just as the Japanese bikes invaded and, eventually other than Triumph still going strong in Hinckley Leicestershire, destroyed the British bike manufacturers.

My first 'bike' was a 125cc scooter but, just about every day, I went to the local Norton dealer and drooled over a 750cc Norton Commando. After passing my test, I went into the shop to trade in my scooter and put a deposit on the Commando. The dealer refused to sell it me as he said that it was too big a jump. He probably saved my life but I felt gutted at the time. I still think of that beautiful machine in the window.....

Anyway, this kit has been described in a YouTube video build as 'the worst kit ever'. The moulds date back to 1964 making it 52 years old and, looking at the parts, it looks in better shape than I was when I was 52

I don't know, or care, if there are fit issues which I would expect but I do think bike builders have been spoiled by the superbly engineered Tamika bikes. Not a bad thing but I wonder if many younger modellers fail to appreciate the hobby as much as us old timers I am really looking forward to building it just for the pleasure of real modelling again.

The kit has had many re releases but this box art could be a serious contender for the most beautiful kit box ever.

Great looking bike Graham, I am sure you will make a great job of it. I am also of an age that I can remember some of these bikes, great times.
