...and one hour later and I caved in
And the book by Mig Jimenez which I've heard is a fantastic resource when painting, and weathering, the King Tiger - although I'm sure this is applicable to most German tanks of that era.
...and no order of mine is complete without another tank destroyer! I really need to find a StuG III & IV to complete my lineup at some point. And a Nashorn. And a few others...
One of the reasons why I've been waiting to buy the King Tiger is that the shop I'm ordering all of my models and stuff from has been out of stock of the interior + exterior paint sets from Ammo of Mig.
I've now managed to find each colour separate and thus was able to complete, and place, the order!
I'm really looking forward to building the King Tiger because I've found the detailed work very satisfying so far, but the Tamiya tanks feels a bit "hollow" if you know what I mean... Such nice outer deserves an inner as well imho.
I've seen some people make "cutaways" of these Takom King Tigers but I will probably go for some sort of display where the tank is displayed in three parts so you can see all the details.
It's also going to be fun to see how the Ammo of Mig compares to Tamiya in the paint department? They do have MUCH better containers for the paint! I'm still a bit upset with my accident two weeks ago when I made a total mess with a jar of Tamiya paint that spilled out on just about everything - laptop included... (this was down to user error though and I can't really blame Tamiya for that f-up, but with bottles rather than jars it wouldn't have happened
