...and one hour later and I caved in

And the book by Mig Jimenez which I've heard is a fantastic resource when painting, and weathering, the King Tiger - although I'm sure this is applicable to most German tanks of that era.

...and no order of mine is complete without another tank destroyer! I really need to find a StuG III & IV to complete my lineup at some point. And a Nashorn. And a few others...

One of the reasons why I've been waiting to buy the King Tiger is that the shop I'm ordering all of my models and stuff from has been out of stock of the interior + exterior paint sets from Ammo of Mig.
I've now managed to find each colour separate and thus was able to complete, and place, the order!
I'm really looking forward to building the King Tiger because I've found the detailed work very satisfying so far, but the Tamiya tanks feels a bit "hollow" if you know what I mean... Such nice outer deserves an inner as well imho.
I've seen some people make "cutaways" of these Takom King Tigers but I will probably go for some sort of display where the tank is displayed in three parts so you can see all the details.

It's also going to be fun to see how the Ammo of Mig compares to Tamiya in the paint department? They do have MUCH better containers for the paint! I'm still a bit upset with my accident two weeks ago when I made a total mess with a jar of Tamiya paint that spilled out on just about everything - laptop included... (this was down to user error though and I can't really blame Tamiya for that f-up, but with bottles rather than jars it wouldn't have happened )

Not sure if this is the right place as I bought them ready-made, but they are definitely kits! (They're 1/1 scale).

Thanks - and thanks for the tip!

I've looked at the Dragon StuG III #6633 but my supplier sadly isn't stocking Dragon models...
I might have to make an eBay purchase from China but recently some have started charging shipping (~£20) on top of the price which makes them rather expensive.
I'll have to shop around until I find someone who's got a descent stock and with reasonable prices.

How are the Dragon models quality-wise? Is it on par with current Tamiya models? (which I'm really impressed with I might add!)

I do need a couple of StuG III & IV and a few other Panzer III & IV to fill more than a few gaps in my lineup.
I don't dare to buy another Italeri kit after the WoT Tiger currently being built, and no more old Tamiya as well. Looking at Takom now but I wish I had the same access to Dragon kits.

Luckily I'm going to be busy for a while with the new King Tiger arriving tomorrow with a bit of luck!

King Tiger and the Jagdtiger arrived today and I have to say that the King Tiger is a beast of a kit!!! (in every positive way! )
I love the detailed interior parts and my only complaint after going over the enormous quantity of sprues is the ammunition and its racks... They are moulded into bundles and thus will require some creative measures when assembling in order to avoid seams etc. Also painting the ammunition won't be as easy as it would've been if they've all been separate.
I won't start this kit for a couple of weeks because it requires some planning I think.

Check the depth of the Takom box compared with the Tamiya! The Tamiya box is one of the biggest ones I've got from Tamiya and yet it's only half as deep as the Takom one!

Here's the "pile o'sprues" for the King Tiger! I think it was 17 sprues in total + 2 bags of track links and PE parts... Will require a large desk just to be able to lay them out prior to the build.

The Jagdtiger was amongst the more expensive Tamiya kits I've bought so far but it was well worth it because the quality is the best I've seen so far!
I've tonight built the lower hull with all the road wheels and suspension. The detail is fantastic!
You can either use the "rubber band" tracks or the rigid more fiddly version supplied. Great that they supply both.
It also came with PE parts which's nice so you don't have to try to find that somewhere prior to starting the build... (often I find that when models are in stock PE parts are not.)

I'm now going to start saving up for a 1/16 kit to build later in the year. The new Tamiya Jagdpanther is looking fantastic, but a bit steep at £350-ish something, and another £300+ if you decide to upgrade it with RC parts! I always seems to pick the expensive hobbies for some reason
Luckily I've got all the time in the world and can spend many hours every day (with many breaks) just building scale models and it's turned out to be the exact right therapy I needed after a severe injury due to an accident. I just need to finish the game room/man cave so I can have a dedicated build/paint area instead of the improvised solution I have now.

Payday yesterday so after work went straight to my LMS for a good browse tea and a chat as there is always a few people in there. I left with these.

Bit different and after a good fumble inside the box it proves to be a nice kit with lots of PE and choices of rubber or individual tracks and what looks to be aluminium shells. Reduced for sale so I couldn't resist. Two paint schemes but no figures.

I've acquired a number of trumpeter kits now as I'd not purchased one until recently and I've been impressed by their quality and this one doesn't disappoint. Another one in the sale. Probably go green on this one.

Another kit in the sale to practice my water effects on on when time permits.

Saw this built in a recent mag and was very impressed so a compulsory purchase and what you'd expect from Revell

Saw this one a few weeks ago but at £18 imho seemed a bit on the pricey side. But I justified the purchase on the premise I'd saved on the others Looks like it will become a nice diorama piece one day.o_O

Tammy BSA kit nice and simple.
