Some nautical additions to the stash. With a couple of 1/72 kits for some small dioramas I have in mind. Comment

Just a bit of fun.....
Saw this last week in the 'Lidl News' for less than £30, so this morning I was first in the queue to nab one - sad, or what?
Here's the Box Art.

A very well packed and comprehensive kit. Instructions in clear English. No filing the tubes, everything a good fit.

Here is the finished model on our front lawn - and yes, I really did fall out of the thing during the first attempt!

Time to get back outside and try and get in the brute once more........

As it's so hot out there I thought I'd get a couple of bikes. Now another dilemma as presented itself. Need to find a couple of appropriate figures to pose with the bikes.

Honestly the kit is really terrible, as a kit itself, and that's before I even start mentioning the abysmal quality of the sprues...
What's worse is that even with creative use of putty, things won't fit anyway.
I might share some pictures later but I'm mainly making this comment to share my noob failure so hopefully others won't do the same mistake in the future because they are going to be disappointed.
I can't understand why Tamiya is flogging this kit when they have so many really well made, and beautiful, models? This surely can't be good for reputation nor sales???
So in short - stay away from the Tamiya Panzerkampfwagen V Panther Sd.kfz.171 Ausf.A 1/35 no: 35065 unless you're really into vintage (I suppose?) wonky kits for sentimental reasons!
This is the type of kit, quality-wise, I made as a kid and what made me stop making scale models.
I will finish the kit and use it for paint practise, as I'd planned from the start - but damn it hurts trying to build this after just have finished another four really well made Tamiya kits...
I hope I'm not breaking any forum rules by explicitly complaining about a particular kit, but if I can steer some other beginner away from this kit it's a good deed I think.Comment
