The tanks are on the box art of the Revell IIC,cannon armed. I notice that it is a tropicalised version. The Merlins fitted to tropical Spitfires did have a larger oil tank enabling longer flights, particularly ferrying up to the Mediterranean theatre from Takoradi in West Africa. I don't know if this was true of the Hurricane, I honestly don't know that much about the type despite always having had a bit of a soft spot for it. I'll try to look it up.
I hasten to reiterate that I'm not trying to make any rules or regulations, just giving a little historical context.
On a lighter note when the Luftwaffe introduced drop tanks on the Bf109E-7 they potentially almost doubled its duration from 1.5 hrs to 3 hrs. This proved very unpopular with the pilots which gives an idea of just how uncomfortable these things really were. For example to fly a Bf109E in a straight line at any speed requires a constant rudder input, there is no rudder trim.Imagine doing that for 3 hrs.
Cheers
