King tigers do they all have to have that horrid Zimmerit on them ( scary cat ) and don't do well with Pe frets and or milli put home made Zimmerit that's a far scary thought
Would be nice to build one and cover it in snow??

      Regards

      Robert
The majority of King Tigers came without zimmerit Robert. It was decided in September to cease using it due to fears of it catching fire, so any that were produced after this time would be bare.

A decent kit is the Tamiya Ardennes Front kit, or one of the Academy kits. Neither come with any photo etch as standard, but an absolute must are pe engine grilles.

Well you're not obliged to slap Zimmerit on, and if you don't want to just don't. Its your tank. Trumpeter do supply a variety of "combs" with the kit to shape your zimmerit, but no assistance with how or what to do.

Well I have decided on my big Cat for my entry of the GB ( still on order )
It's an older kit but a classic kit ( so I'm told )
It will be a new enterprise with me. I'm not an armour builder ( more a tryer and a bodger )
Should be fun to see how this turns out but I have lots of time to gain ref etc
Any help with kit difficulties camo ideas etc welcome

There's nothing wrong with that kit Robert. It builds into a good representation of a King Tiger. As I said before, pe engine grilles are a must IMHO & you'd do well to consider an ali barrel. The one from RB Models isn't expensive & would be much better than the kit offering.

As far as the camo goes, I'd recommend looking at which vehicle you'd like to build & research it.

By the time that zimmerit coatings were dropped, most Tiger Bs were painted in the factory with a soft-edged tricolour pattern. By December '44, they had hard-edged camo - some with dots in the classic "ambush" scheme & some without.
