    Jack's Bag End

Well I sincerely apologise for the title, please don't use your imagination! I will be attempting to recreate a version of Bilbo Baggins' house under-the-hill, Bag End. I already think I may have bitten off more than I can chew!

ID:	1237739 1st step is a scale sketch...I'm not doing the whole house as it covers a pretty large surface area, just the 'front'. I'll have to work out how to present the sides/back.

What a great idea. I'm a huge fan of Tolkien's stories and also the Peter Jackson film trilogy. Looking forward to this.

Crikey that's a bit more attention than I'd anticipated! Don't get your hopes up too much. Never attempted anything like this before!

Made some 'decent' progress on the groundwork. Been a lot of trial and error on how to go about certain aspects of it. Also, getting used ti the Proxxon foam cutter. I'm sure things are easier if you can spend hundreds on Shifting Lands jigs, but I'm having to make do. Was initially going to carve out the doorway and windows, but decided a separate piece of foam would be better, similar to how I've made the garden retaining wall. Looks a mess at the mo but lots of refining to do.

Great start Jack. I think you have chosen a very unusual yet iconic subject to model so all the best with it.

Looks a very good start. Now the basic structure is in place I'm sure things will go well.
The best thing I bought for my Proxxon was a foot switch. Allows both hands free, makes for far better control.

Thanks Jim. Yeah I've looked at the foot pedal but not sure it would be worth while yet. If and when I venture into more complicated shapes then maybe.

ID:	1238729 Using sculptamold for the first time and like it a lot. Much more suitable than the DIY products I've tried to use in the past.

Next step will be lining the edges and then tidying everything up.

Thank you. Starting to look like some sort of dwelling. Once I have the edging done, should be able to start with some foliage.
