Will also follow this as I have a ship on the slipway too. Having to have a break from it due to back aches - too much leaning over for the tiny parts!!
Thanks for your interest lads, it's nice to have feed back especially now the viewing counter has been deleted.
I have laid the plastic components of the first of the 2cm quad flak guns onto the instructions (E1, E2, E7, E8 and E9), you can see the mouldings are nowhere as detailed as the CAD drawings, so I don't know why Dragon went into so much detail on the drawings.

The next photo shows the Plastic and PE components of one gun provided with the kit, along side one of the finished guns.

When gluing the PE to the plastic, I use the Gel CA, I never use it directly from the tube, I wipe a small amount onto a tissue in order to discard the old glue left in the nozzle tip, then place a small amount onto some scrap card and use a sharp wooden cocktail stick to 'butter' the glue onto where the PE is going
Will post more when I have finished all 5 off 2cm quad flak guns. Derek
Seeing as I'm also about to build this beauty and it's my first model in a hundred years, what sort of paints are you using, Derek? Enamel or acrylic? What brand? What colours? painting or airbrushimg?
Don't be put off by this build, the PE for my KGV build was not nearly as bad. Gold Medal Models PE is excellent if you can get it. Derek
I am trying to get the PE upgrade kit for the Scharnhorst, Dragon number DRA-1010 which include the railings etc. Do you know where I can get them? Or does some one else make a version that is comparable?

Hi Lance,
I will be using Lifecolor acrylic, the paint set shown in the website below. This company does International postings. I will be using airbrush and hand brush, also I use Tamiya aerosol primer for acrylics, light grey, and Humbrol aerosol acrylic satin varnish. The Lifecolor is a non toxic no smell paint which is excellent for hand and airbrush, used it for years.
