Haha , would have been some model, just think of the expense, kitting out the flight deck with 1/35 (1/32) Hornets , let alone the carrier itself.

Great work Steve on an unusual kit. The photo etch makes all the difference although I suspect it will be the launching missile that will gain the immediate attention once finished.
Top stuff

Thank you, just working out the building of the flame from the back, smoke will be easier as have some fine teddy bear stuffing. Probaly use some of this coated in white glue on a brass rod to give it stability and strength.
Have seen this one from Takom, so may need to build it to counter the RIM, Russia's Kashtan - its a beast of a CIWS , like most Russian stuff looks like its from a sci-fi movie - Video
Had chance to get the kit into the spray booth on Saturday, everything sprayed with Tamiya Rubber black, then using a scatter stencil from RB Productions, matt white sprayed on in random areas;
Once dry the top coat of tamiya grey was applied in fine layers to build up the faded effect and then left to dry in the sun, brought it in just before the downpour in the afternoon.
It has left a subtle faded appearance to parts of the structure, next will be the weathering and shadows. Dome is tacked on, luckily as the base plate needs to be grey !
On the home straight now, few touch ups - shocks need painting back in, missile needs seeker fitting, painting and flame out the back creating;
Started work on the 'deck' stanchions on, will be straigthened up once brass rod arrives, rod that came with the stanchions (recommended on website) is to thick;
