I know achieving good Chrome finish is a vexed issue, so I thought I'd show what Molotow's Liquid Chrome looks like when airbrushed.

This is after a single pass. I'm probably going to paint over all of it except the goggle lenses, so I wasn't worried about imperfections elsewhere (tbh they're pretty hard to see with the naked eye).

You can see the hand holding the helmet reflected in the mirror finish - I think it's pretty impressive.

I cant see that you have uploaded a picture (I was in the editor).
Did you up load or share a link, I cant remember which way you normally do it Paul.
I think John needs to sort out this picture issue. I suffer from it as well time to time....
But to add to the actual thread I can only second what Paul is trying to show Liquid chrome is EXCELLENT. I have a 2mm pen I use for details on stuts and engines Really good stuff.

That last post should include the images, BTW.

I can see them now. It looks pretty impressive. Very smooth on the eye indentations, but slightly grainy further back. Was that the paint or was it the finish on the piece? Next question….is it water or spirit based?
I have Alclad II chrome, but it isn’t as bright as that. Good for slightly aged chrome though. I’ve used bare metal foil on mirrors and oleo struts before as well. Gives a good finish but is quite fiddly. This might be a decent replacement, so I might get one of the pens.

I see them. Most excellent chrome. I need to buy some for airbrushing, is it the refill you buy Paul?

I'm not sure why it is grainy in places. It might just need another coat. Which I might do, just to find out. And it's spirit based - cleans up nicely with ipa. Others have had issues with the pens, although I've got the 30ml refill - it can be applied with a brush or airbrush.

Sorry, Ian, I missed your comment. Yes, I've got the refill. Don't see any benefit to buying the pens, as the refill allows you to place a drop or two on a (dry) palette and apply with a brush - goes down just fine. Plus of course you can airbrush it, too.

Chrome is very resistant to being painted over. I may reprime and start again as I think it'll be very difficult to neatly outline the lenses.

This is VERY rough - Vallejo Skin Wash ink over brush painted Molotow. I'm going to redo it, now I know what I'm after.
