Hi all I think I'm in the right place if not can admin please move. Here is my entry for the group build it is the Skoda RSO Radschlepper ost (wheeled carrier East)

The German army were caught out by the conditions on the Russian Steppes so a request was placed for vehicles that could cope with the frozen, muddy conditions.
The type 175 Skoda RSO (Radschlepper Ost) wheeled carrier East was put forward. The vehicle had large metal wheels as seen on agricultural vehicles of the time. An order for 200 was placed but this was reduced to 100 when the performance didn't meet expectations. Due to the metal wheels speed was limited to 15kph. Weighing in at 7 tonnes it was powered by a 90bhp 4 cyl ohv engine, with a range of 125km.

Reference material is limited to pictures taken at the time as no vehicles survived.

The box contains 8 grey sprues, 4 wheel rims, a cab, tarpulin and an etch fret along with some string and clear sprue . I also purchased an upgrade set from Part models.DSCF0482.webpDSCF0483.webpDSCF0484.webpDSCF0485.webp

I have made a start on this ungainly beast with the engine. Probably not accurate but some pipework has been added just for interest.

One of my pet hates with wheeled vehicles is the suspension. So I removed all the detail and replaced it. I wanted to pose the steering at a slight angle. The instructions tell you not to glue the stub axles into place so they can pivot, which is totally pointless as the steering linkage fixes the wheels straight ahead so a slight modification and the wheels are posable. The link arm from the steering box was also modified. Finally a drain plug was added to the transfer box.

Next up the earth anchor.

Awesome!!!!! I have one of these to do so very curious to see how well it goes together for you.

What a strange vehicle; metal wheels in -40 degrees celsius weather. Engine looks much better with the piping, and the turned wheels will be a nice touch.

A very strange vehicle and didn't live up to expectations.
I'll follow this with interest. Strange vehicle. Already working your magic.
Thanks Jim, good to have you along.
That is one strange beastie. Pew pulled up, popcorn ready… 🍿
Neil, welcome aboard.
One odd looking thingy Scottie but can see you are performing your magic
Nearly as odd as me mate

I remade the earth anchor as the kit one lacked definition and had some nasty ejector marks in it. You can just see it in the picture. The fairlead pulley's were also remade as they were very badly moulded with one having a large flat on it.
