You're possibly thinking of 1/56, the 'nominal' 28mm wargaming scale? Italeri do a couple of vehicles joint released with UK wargames company Warlord

Planes......... 1 72 and occasional 1 144 or 1 48

WELL GUYS i built some of my big R/C warships were 1/64th IN SCALE as thats the MOD scale for their hulls in the test tank so i built mine in that now my USS NIMITZ CVN 68 was built in 1/144 th scale as any bigger scale an the model would be to big to move AN MY R/C HMS TIGER was built in 1/72 scale along with my R/C NORFOLK type 23 frigate an my planes scale i like best is 1/32 scale an thats me done

When I got back into the hobby I started on 1:72/76 just to get me eye in, as it were....and I still quite like that scale.
But I am now really linking 1:35, you get so much more detail but they are not that much bigger, as storage once built is an issue for me.
But, TBH I will build in pretty much any scale, I really liked the tiny little ships I built previously in 1:1200 and have a couple more to do.
I also really enjoyed the couple of tiny little tanks that I built previously in 1:144 scale, and I have a couple more of those to do too.
I also like the larger figures in 1:16 and the motorbikes in 1:12
So personally, as I have got more into the bobby, I do like nice little details in models, especially the very small ones, but sadly my eyes are not what they were and even with glasses and magnifiers, and my chubby sausage like fingers, I do struggle a bit with very, very small stuff, so will probably stick more with the normal scales, eg: 1:72 - 1:35.

I’ve replied, but the figure scales, 120mm, 54mm, 28mm, etc are sadly absent. In my case I like 1/12 for bikes, 1/24 or 5 for cars, 1/35 for armour and softs, 1/48 for aircraft, 1/76.2 for railways, and 28mm for figures. I have worked outside these scales often, especially for figures, though these are the ones that make up the bulk of what I do.
Duh, 1/87, HO scale in US. Have done some 1/72, but prefer the former for all.
