Nice to see this progressing Ian. Lovely work so far, the finches look nicely moulded
I do love a paint-heavy project, Ian, and as you say, this is going to be all about the paint. Looking forward to seeing your progress.
Got the Bullfinches primed up now, and noticed some work needed on some of the joints.
Ok I’ve blocked the main colour on these two, now I need to fine tune them all.
Got some fine painting done to both of these, still plenty to do though.

Slowly making progress on these two, I didn’t like the colour of the male’s Brest so I’ve lightened it. Looks a lot better. To me anyway.
Looking good Ian. You are doing a great job on a really interesting subject, and these models look much better with paint on than they do in raw plastic .
Might be my monitor, but to me the male breast colour seems too “red”. Those I’ve seen in the flesh, so to speak, are a little more desaturated in hue. Obviously depends on time of year, ambient lighting, etc, and I usually see them in winter (we get a pair overwinter round here) when the plumage has faded a little, so I could be way off. Anyway, your model, your choice, it’s just my impression, and if they come out half as well as the blossom then they’ll be a real treat for the eyes.

Yes Tim your right about the breast colour, I’m slowly dry brushing white onto the breast then adding lighter red/pink colours to try and add depth of colour.Looking good Ian. They're both looking very realistic Ian, I hope you don't have a cat nearby
Done some more work on the male’s breast, getting to how I want it.
