Yes Tim your right about the breast colour, I’m slowly dry brushing white onto the breast then adding lighter red/pink colours to try and add depth of colour.Looking good Ian. You are doing a great job on a really interesting subject, and these models look much better with paint on than they do in raw plastic.
Might be my monitor, but to me the male breast colour seems too “red”. Those I’ve seen in the flesh, so to speak, are a little more desaturated in hue. Obviously depends on time of year, ambient lighting, etc, and I usually see them in winter (we get a pair overwinter round here) when the plumage has faded a little, so I could be way off. Anyway, your model, your choice, it’s just my impression, and if they come out half as well as the blossom then they’ll be a real treat for the eyes.
