There is a slight bit of texturing on the kit part dave but I think the camera has added to it a bit too . It doesnt look like that in real life . The camera on this new iphone 16 pro is too clever for its own good - it alters the images sometimes without asking , very annoying , and the makro close up lens is rubbish , it makes the images really grainy . For close up shots I have to move away till the lens changes from makro to normal ( it automatically switches between lenses , theres 3 !) then zoom in and take the pic . My old Iphone 11 was far better for taking good pictures - progress ? Dont think so

Well the 50 odd year old decals performed brilliantly , they took a bit of soaking but were tough as old boots , not much carrier film and no yellowing . They have all been applied now just leaving them to fully dry then its going to get a sealing coat of varnish , not sure yet if its going to be gloss or satin . Next job after varnishing is the control cables and any rigging I can do before the top wing goes on

Great result for the decals Tony. Its hard to believe that something made 50 years ago can still deliver results like that. Looking really good.

Moving along quite nicely now . The control cables for the rudder and elevators have been added using AK elastic rigging thread ,which was highlighted with silver after fitting to simulate a metal wire . The cabane struts have been fitted and the rigging wires on these and between the undercarriage legs was added using bait elastic - I wanted a slightly thicker thread for these as they are a sturdier cable/ rod on the aircraft .
Before the top wing can be fitted I had to sort the windscreen which was cut from a thin piece of clear acetate ( and was a nightmare to handle and glue as its tiny )
The fuel tank on the top wing has a copper feed pipe leading down to the cowling which was added using ,yes you guessed it - copper wire . The top wing has now been fitted and is very sturdy , I should be able to spring in the interplane struts and then its time for more rigging .

With a big push this has now got over the line .I started this morning fitting the interplane struts then it was out with the bait elastic for the rigging .First theres a cross bracing between the two struts on each wing then the four cross braces each side were fitted. I had a bit of a job with some of them coming unglued and having to be re done a few times but eventually all the rigging was done . Only now did I realise that the spare propeller I’d made to be lashed to the side of the fuselage would have been a LOT easier if I had thought to do it before the top wing went on - DOH ! 
So a very tricky threading job was in order , tying the prop with brown cotton to simulate rope . Once this was done the main prop was popped on and it was finished .
The standing figure of Amy had a bit more work on the face to try and give it a bit more features - trying to depict eyes on a 1/72 scale figure is hard ! Anyways its all done and I’m chuffed with it , not bad for a 60 year old kit . Heres the final shots and I managed to get some outside in the sunshine to muck about with too . Thanks to all who have been watching/ commenting , I’ll be putting a completed thread on now with a lot more pics, cheers tony

Now, you've done an inspirational job on this old bird! If I didn't already have the AModel Gypsy Moth for my RAF silver wings set, I'd think about getting one of these to start an Amy Johnson/Mollison collection! Maybe I'll just stick to converting my FROG Westland PV6 to a service Wallace
