There's hope for us old farts yet it appears. I got me a new job starting on Monday. Fewer hours at the bench - boooooo! More money for the stash - hooray!

Thanks for your support everyone.

Ian - Yeah! Back to teaching maths to teenagers - or trying to persuade them they will need some of what I teach at some stage in their lives. A youngster like yourself will remember your teenage years so you'll know how keen they are to learn! Old farts like me don't have memories that go back that far. At least I don't anyway. :)

So good to hear youve found another job dave, plenty of time between now and april to save some pennies for Cosford! Best wishes with the new job mucker! , cheers tony

Well done Dave! I know how you feel, having been in a new job myself these past 2 months after a year of searching.

Thanks Tony. I'm hoping I'll have pounds to spend at Cosford rather than pennies but that will depend on how much I spend at Telford! I've decided to go this year as Polux is going too and it will be nice to meet up with him and any of the other guys. Any chance you'll be able to make it?

Thank you guys and gal!

I was wondering if I'd ever work again trying to find a job aged over 60. Just goes to show the world of work isn't totally fixed on youngsters - just mostly!

Congratulations, well done, personally I have no need of maths, I have Freddie the mathematical tortoise takes hi a while but he gets there, the other day I bought 2 kits at 5 quid and Freddie told me that made £16.20 bargain really. Hope your as good as whoever tought Freddie. Hope you enjoy your new job.

I have to say I'm touched by the amount of support I've had from everyone - thank you all.

Ken - I just hope none of my students read your post! They'll all be wanting a tortoise and they're already in short supply! :D

Mind you, if they did get one, maybe that would stop them playing on their b****y mobile 'phones all day!!

I'd forgotten the joys of finding insurance for a car. Bought myself a cheapo runaround for £300. Quotes for the insurance range from £600 per year to £2200 per year! Of course, those quotes don't include those companies that put annoying ads on TV - the ones that are like fingernails on a blackboard! - plus the fact I've not owned or driven a car for 5 years so have zero no-claims bonus.

Still gotta be better than spending nearly 4 hours a day on buses :(

Hey Dave,

Congratulations mate! I was actually studying to be a teacher before joining the Army. I think teaching is a very noble profession, as you are helping raise and nurture the next generation of your nation. Hope it all goes well mate.
