Hi all.
My wife and I did expect to be away for at least 5/6 weeks, but yesterday my eldest son managed to contacted us to let us know our Daughter in Law has been diagnosed with breast cancer.......

It has been caught early, so we are praying for a good conclusion. She has an in depth scan tomorrow and then they will operate based on the findings. All a bit in the air, but thankfully, things are pushing ahead at a rapid pace.

We were within hours of catching the Ferry to the Outer Hebrides when we got the news. We informed Caledonian McBrayne's ticket office of the situation, and to cancel all our sailings, and without any hesitation, they offered to refund all our money straight away. So top marks to them....

Then it was helter skelter back home to Chester from Ullapool - Day and a half with a bit of a kip en-route - Not bad for a clapped out camper van.....Not to mention the driver!

Anyway, all we can do now is support them both and pray for a happy conclusion.

Cheers all,
Ron

Sending best wishes to you all ron hope everything goes ok , cheers mate. Tony

Sad news Ron I hope your daughter in law as a positive response to her treatment. All the best to you and your family.

Sorry to hear that, hope all goes well.

Pete

Sending my best wishes for a good outcome I sincerely hope for the best, what a terrible disease.

Thank you for all your kind messages. I appreciate every one of them. We had my son and his wife around for a Chinese Take Away tonight and they seem as well as can be expected under the circumstances - a bit subdued, but trying to be brave. Heaven knows what they are both thinking.........

Thanks again,
Ron

Good luck Ron, the good news is it is survivable my wife had this 12 years ago.

Positive thoughts to all concerned and hoping for the best possible outcome.
Steve

Best wishes. A close friend of ours has just been through all this and all was well.

All I can do is mirror the replies you've already had Ron, a horrible thing for a family to go through. My thoughts are with you and yours.

She's young , caught early...not to worry, all will be well. ;)...........Jim:)

First off, thanks to my friends on here for all your good wishes.

We've just had what is hopefully good news!

My Daughter in Law, saw the surgeon this very morning to discuss her scan findings. He informed her he was 'happy' with what he found.

It's just a small bit of cancerous growth on her breast. He will only have to remove the small growth and nothing else - Thank Goodness - on Wednesday.

Then it will only be a course of radio treatment, rather than full blown chemo.....

Yes, I know you can't be too sure with this dreadful disease, but we are so relieved that it's hopefully, not as bad as we first though.

So, finger's firmly crossed!

Ron
