Mk IV Top Tower Supply Tank & Sledge

Hello everyone
I'm another refugee from Military Modelling but also a returning member I was converting a Emhar Mk IV into a supply tank with a supply sledge.

This is just some of the wok I did.
Added springs to the vision port flaps, added 2 bolts above vision slits which would have reflector boxes on the the inside,Removed rivet under the Lewis gun.ballmounting, removed and added the right nuts & bolts ot the angle iron running along the lower edge.

Made escape hatch for the drivers cab roof. added missing rivets to the side of the cab, replaced pistol port pivots with nut & studs and added stops.
Remade the rear lookout hatch . Added missing pistol port.

The two sponsons (original one on the left) and converted it to the one on the right .Removed all suface details and boxed in the main gun, M/G apacher.
Lightly filled with Mr Surface 1000 and sanded, added pistol ports, viewing slots which are block, added new rivets to front & sides.

Made up fuel tank and missing return flange and rivets.

Used gluing jig to hold hull all nice and square .

Made up stowage protector box .Fitted Takom tracks instead of vinyl one supplied in the kit.

Made retaining pin for front tow eye also thined down lower half of tow eye. Made & added missing drivers floor pistol port, flated rivet heads on leading edge & side insteard of domed ones.Made & added envelope radiator filler and armour plate, also fitted rea convoy light wire.

Made new M/G using brass 2.5, 2.0 mm tubing.

On to the towing block or top tower. I used Balsa wood , white card and coper wire fof the large Bow shackle.and various plastic nuts and bolts.

Primed the body and the tranks, all painted by hand using my Artex roller :smiling4:

Base coat on and all paint as usual with the garden broom :thinking:

On to the supply sledge which is all scrtchbuild and was built yesterday so noe up to date. :smiling:

Made bracing spas, made rivets & fiitted inside & out, made front and rear tow eyes from copper wire ( rear tow eyes are for second sledge)

Still got the towing mule to make which goes between the tank & sledge all connected with chains.

Hi Mike glad to see you made it too I will be keeping a eye on your work for sure :thumb2:, I did manage to finish the airship tug & the Mk V before I moved back here the pics are on the Mil Mod site if you want to see them before it goes :worried:.

Hi small update.
Got the primer on, all my models are hand painted.

I'v made the pics smaller :flushed: sorry did not realise they were that big.

Hi got the base coat on and some of the stowage primed, made a few extra ditching beam for the sledge.


Stowage for the top of the tank.

Dont have to worry about the larger photos, makes it much easier to see whats going on.
