Scale Model Shop

Latest Acquisitions (2019)

Postie delivery.................................revell etihad.jpg
Oddly, I paid less for the model set, than the model alone! £12.28 delivered!
Four pots of Revell Aqua acrylic paint, a double ended brush & small Contacta Professional - the last probably being the only thing I will use.
Mouldings are nice, need a bit of edge preparation - but the decal sheet is what this model is about

Look pretty good, in register & readable!

Picked this up at a charity shop the other day:

IMG_20190930_220823488[1].jpgHas a lot of history of tank development as well as details of various AFV actions, starting before WW1 and details of different countries' strategies for the use of AFVs.

Got a few nice little items through the post today. I'm planning a conversion of a 1/32 Ju88 A4 into something else and got a few Eduard & AIMS PE, HGW belts (said i wouldn't use them again but i caved in) and Montex canopy masks. A friend on another forum also kindly made some custom masks for the particular aircraft too.

this wee beastie arrived yesterday all the way from China via ebay

I shall be checking but does anyone happen to know if they fixed the problem areas before re-releasing this one?

I bought this when it originally came out and converted it to the prototype with the concrete box turret stand-in testing at Boblingen - want to do it as the gun tank this time around

I'm always scared of buying from China because of fraud and customs lol
Customs is a matter of knowing from what amount they’ll begin taking an interest, and only ordering below that (split up your order if necessary).

Never had a problem with safe arrival and once got knobbled by a customs charge.

Mine was blown up, ordered some paint from China, waited and waited then had a letter from Customs to contact them, I did only to be told it had been blown it up as a suspect package. They did give me a number to claim from, I didnt as it just wasnt worth it, they did laugh saying it made one hell of a mess, I didnt ask what shade.

And that is?
I don’t know for the UK, but it must be easy to find out …

/me searches a little

Here we go. The basics:
  • Up to and including £15 you don’t pay VAT.
  • Below £135 you don’t pay import duties.
All this for things sent from outside the EU, because you never pay these for goods sent from inside the EU (barring a few places, as the page mentions). I suppose that after Brexit, these costs may apply to goods from the EU as well.

I have been stung by HMR&C ( Her Majesties Revenue and Customs ) charges - to add insult to injury the Post Office add £5 surcharge for collecting the HMR&C 's cash!

Nothing too exciting but a few extra colours, including some for my tiny MAZ trucks. My first pigments to try (no fixer in stock unfortunately), and topping up on primer & cement.

Bob,
I've used the Hataka Red Line acrylics quite a lot ( OK, but need careful mixing & thinning ), it'll be interesting to see how the lacquer based paints perform.

Cheers Dave. Everything I've read about them looks good, I'll find out soon. :)
