You ain't having much luck at the moment. The kit is a challenge for sure and now the compressor

Thanks Jim, not going to mess around trying to get that bolt out, hopefully my mate will remove it with out a problem. In the meantime I'll source a new one.
As to luck and the challenge I agree, but just press on regardless.:upside:

keep up... looking forward for next installment... MMOOORRREE

Right the tension is building with the imminent arrival of the new compressor , so painting can continue.

Now what's with this black art ," panel line" if any one can advise what I need to do I'd be grateful. I know can search U Tube but would rather ask here before confusing my self .

Thanks .

.

Does an I-16 have any actual panel lines John?

Pete, having search the web I'm none the wiser, looking at the plane it appears to have these lines on the wing.2019_7.jpg

Is this what I mean ?

Those raised lines represent the fabric covering of the wing being stretched over the ribs. The leading edges of the wings were aluminium, as were the inner sections where your model shows flat plates.

Hi John
Panel lines are basically a pin wash for aircraft......personally I use a home brew oil wash using an appropriate oil colour diluted with sansodor thinner....there are many commercial solutions out there, but I would avoid the lifecolour panel line stuff, I couldn’t get it to work at all....
Flory washes are mentioned a lot, and next time I make an aircraft I wI’ll try them.
One thing to remember is that the wash excess is dragged off in the direction of airflow, unlike tanks where you follow the direction of gravity.

The only lines between panels that I can see are those panels near the wing roots. The rest of the wing is fabric covered so won't show any panel lines. Maybe around the engine cowling.

Guys thank you, Paul, Jakko ,Tim, and Pete ..
Mm, well I've resprayed the top, will leave it overnight and have a look tomorrow. Right think I understand, will have a play.

A classic build indeed John. I've seen / experienced this green plastic before. Yes, it was an ancient Revell kit.

Morning Colin, it may end up in the" green bin " . It seems so thin, already lost one of the guns and had to use brass to replace it. The prop has lost a one blade several times repeated regluing with ca. Determined now that it will be painted today !

Nice one John, hope the new compressor is a joy to work with :thumb2: .

As for the panel-lines, like Tim said a pin wash for the raised or recessed lines or detail on the wings and fuselage.
Personally I prefer to apply a coat or two of gloss first, to easier clean and lighten the effect with a tissue or a flat brush, oils are my favourite but the Flory stuff has good reviews.

Have fun!

Ps, planes are kept in pretty good shape, only mud for the wheels:tongue-out3:
