HMS DREADNOUGHT 1906

That’s looking really good Carl. Worth the effort so far....
If I’m honest the wood decking felt a bit like I’m cheating but if nothing else I wanted to try it.
the next level of decks could be a trial as there are many very small legs which are easily Brocken .

Looks better than if it was painted, in my humble terrible painter opinion lol

Hi Carl
That looks great. I like wood decks. I know some don't but the couple of times I have used them I have been more than happy.

It’s not cheating Carl.....it’s no different to using pre coloured etch instrument panels on a wingy build.

Great work Carl. Just had a catch up. It's coming along very nicely indeed.

Keep up the good work.

A small update, I’ve been mainly painting a few bits (mostly grey or grey).
Started adding details to the main deck whilst starting on the super structure. It’s a slow process that requires steady hands and patience. To some extent im
Following the instructions but having fitted some of the finer detail I just know I’m going to bend or break a few before the build is done. In hind site all the main deck bits should be left to the very end of the build.
Ive had a few small fit issues, some of which were caused just by adding photo etch ladders which caused fit problems.
there’s a lot to be said for continually dry fitting assemblies before glueing.
As always it’s a learning curve but im
Making progress.

Coming on well Carl! How did you work out the correct thickness for the rigging? Looked on John's shop and theres a few to choose from?

Hi Bob, I blindly went with the advert which says it’s for 1:350 ships So I’m hoping it is. I’ve never actually calculated what diameter it should be as a check. It looks pretty thin though At 0.121mm. (X350 = 42.35mm diameter )

Comin on great Carl i love battle ships an yours looks great amount of detail with the wooden deck

Hi Carl
I think you're enjoying this :smiling2:
It is looking good, nice neat work. You seem to have mastered the fiddly bits.

Thanks Jim, Bit of a strain on the eyes mind and you only have to breath too hard and something bends-lol. Not sure Ive mastered it but long as I don’t try to rush then it seems to go ok.

Think you have mastered it Carl, and well at that.
Regardless of the first colour for the hull I thought it had been really well painted.
Love the timber decking, looking fwd to seeing more .
