Gerry. You are right I have always burned Oak and I have no issues with my Flue. I’ll sell that Hickory

Jim. I enjoy cutting my own wood and burning it. Wood heat warms the soul.

I've just processed a whole Rowan tree (only pollarded it so i can still keep the witches at bay) with only a Bacho Laplander saw. Was the best investment i've made in a long time. Essential for wild camping for getting my firewood/cooking wood and sharp as a sharp thing. Took longer than if i'd used power saws but it kept me warm and physically active.

Lee. If you like firewood and want a good read then i can highly recommend Norwegian wood - Lars Mytting

BTW. Hickory has a high KWH/sm3. At approx 3405KWH

Alan. Thanks for the info. I’ll check it out. And the PH in the Hickory I didn’t know that. It’s raining here and going to rain all day no outside work today.

It has rained most of the day the ground is saturated. So I worked on the divider in the little Barn till it stopped raining then I tore down what was left of my old goat pen and made a path where the new fence will go. I’m going to redo it and buy a couple Goats and have them there till I get the barn lot fenced in. After that I gathered the eggs and got a odd small shaped one this happens I’ll put this in a dozen and give to a friend of mine at church as a prank. That’s all for now next week I’ll get started on the fence after hauling wood. Wow Lee, you’ve got a witches egg there.....better keep an eye on the broomsticks.....last time we got one it was really dark brown as well as small....
Looks great there though.....

Actually Lee, it's called a "Cull"...........when you got one like that while candling eggs for blood spots and weighing them for Grade, they usually went to the dog and he didn't care what size they were. :tongue-out3:

Thanks Rick I’ll have to candle this one very good info

You got to be kidding me...most eggs sold here are near brown. You get the pink ones too but never see any white unless they're duck eggs or preserved salted eggs bleached by horses piss (grandmothers tale).:smiling6:

Cheers,

At my age.......no thank you! Is it made to operate on the ground or can it be mounted on a stand or sawhorse? Never seen one of these.....what's the tonnage of the ram? Rick H.

Thread owner
Rick I wouldn’t mount it no more than knee high due to leverage issues to operate it. It’s a 10 ton.

Love that log splitter Lee, especially after a mate & myself wore ourselves out splitting logs with an axe......

Thread owner
Graeme. Thanks what I like about it is I don’t have to worry about the engine breaking down add gas and oil and it’s a great work out.

Nice catch up Lee. That snow you had, :cold-sweat: could ruin a crop in minutes with the temp.
Went on to the greenhouse tonight and brought in a load of newly planted plants bach into the house. Talks of being cold tonight, then some rain .

Thread owner
John. Yes I had nothing in the grading but the cold and snow burnt the new buds on my persimmon tree. I hope it comes back. It’s getting bust here on the Hobby Farm.
