Ron's Miniart Factory Ruin

Thread owner
Should be fine....lots of industrial buildings have larger than standard openings....if it really "bugs" you you could always slice off a scale foot or two from the bottom edge if you think it will help. Rick H.
PS Rick, looks like a match made in heaven for Verlindens figures, they always seemed huge when posed next to say, a Warriors figure

Never cared for Verlinden figs....they always seemed disproportionate to me....maybe just my eyes though and could be talking out of school. Rick H.

A match made in heaven, sounds like some sort of religious fire lighting method .
TAXI !

Nope, same here, their poses did nothing to inspire me

Another outburst from you Sir Pyro and I'm going to have to go grab the fire extinguisher out of my Jeep ! Do not test me, sir !

Great job... I’ve only ever done one of these and it didn’t come out too well ... but looking at this I might try again!

Just had a quick catch-up, the building is looking very good indeed.

Keep up the great work.

Thank you Jason, you really should try again! This is my first, and watching a Miniart YouTube video, their artiste made it look so easy. I wasn't too far along when I considered trashing it. I like that if youre inclined to keep things simple, then just assemble and paint, enjoy the basics. Or one can always practice their technique and modify it to suit their imagination. It was really just a matter of persistence and patience, so you oughta go for it !

Thanks Andrew, I do like the convenience of Miniart doing the hard part for me (designing and fabricating the core building) , that freed me from being bogged down to begin with. I've lofty aspirations of making my own stuff so this kit is a great tool to get the ball rolling in that direction, so to speak. For me it has been a confidence builder.

Here are some progress pics of the factory ruin. Overall I am pleased to this point, but am not completely sold on the scale appearance of the metal mesh "rebar", looking for any opinions but in particular as to whether I maybe should trim away some of the excess mesh at the edges. Just not sure....
Also- I plan on not using the doors provided in the kit, they're a bit ornate for a factory. I'll try to find some period photos of a more spartan example for reference

Progress is looking good Ron. The building makes for an impressive central or background piece for the dio.

Cheers,
Richard

Hi Ron, I rather like the effect you have there with the rebar.......only I might consider making the edges a little more ragged looking by snipping some of the horizontal intersecting bars off, thereby giving the steel bar a little less uniform appearance. Hope this is helpful.......not meant as criticism in the least, just my "druthers" is all. ;) Rick H.

That's great Rick, just what I'm needing, more sets of eyes so-to-speak. I favored the mesh over using individual wires in the plaster, just needs a bit of dialing in then. :thumb2:

Thanks, thinking of adding in a bent piece of tubing and/or wire for the conduits and plumbing too

This is looking really good Ron keep up the great work…concrete and rebar looks great
