Heller 1/400 H.M.S. Hood.

453. My dear chap, to compress your observations and I'm sure you will agree, I would prefer to call it guess work!

570

Update...
Nearly there.
I've fixed on the cut down and modified kit handrails. They'll do me.
I've added loads more 'extras' Believe it or not, some are reasonably accurate too!:nerd: On the other hand, and to even things up, there's even a modified 1/35 Tiger I torsion bar stuck on the ship.

A and B turrets.

C and D....

Still plenty to do, but it's looking a bit more like Hood now......Well, a cheapskate version anyway.:upside:

Cheers,
Captain 'Peg Leg' Aslob
Chasing Moby Dick around the Oceans.
Works for me 570, ------- most of the time:smiling3:

Sorry for the late response chaps.....I've been AWOL.

Thanks for your posts. :thumb2:

Apart from the usual bit of 'Touching up' the painting is finished.

I've freehand brushed on the boot topping. I don't use masking tape - Far too risky!

Luckily for me, there was a very faint line on the hull moulding to show the top of the black line, so all I had to do was paint to this line, but making the black line slightly wider than it should be and then mark the bottom line of black boot topping parallel with the top one using a pencil, and paint to that line with the grey anti fouling.
The line will be slightly weathered.

She is now ready for the rigging, anchor chains etc......

Thanks Rick.
Glad you approve of Hood thus far.
I enjoy rigging ships and boats. The one thing that finally seems to bring model vessels alive is some 'wire' work.

Bit of a cop out, but I won't be doing the full blown rigging. I've had a look at her set up. I could do it, but it would be too long winded. I just haven't the time nor the inclination to faff about with it. So I'll call my up and coming effort a 'Representation'.....
Sorry, faff is probably the wrong choice of word, but I'm sure you good people will understand my reason for not wanting to do the 'Complete' rigging.

Thanks for your continued interest.

570, Sir how dare you say such a thing. " just haven't the time nor the inclination to faff about with it. "

Dear H.H.
I have looked into the history of your 'Rigging Troop' and would suggest you refrain from writing to me in such an inflammatory fashion.
Why? Because I have discovered that your dance troop is merely a cover for selling rope to, shall I type, dubious 'customers'
I am in possession of requests to you for the supply of various cords etc. from Cynthia Payne, Linda Lovelace, various t.v. celebrities and members of our Government.

So if you continue with this harassment, I will go to the papers with the aforementioned requests......

In any case, what I do with my rigging in the privacy of my own home is my own business, not yours!

As an aside, do you know of a specialist knot undo'er? Me and the bride were practicing tying a quick release, double half hitch with single reef knot last night and I'm afraid it didn't quick release! I can't use the phone to contact my son to come and undo us. The wife said "Don't you dare!" No sense of fun.....

Anyway, if you could send someone around to my place? I would be really glad to bond with them.

Yours, (Typing with my nose)

Chris. She'll be in a rough sea, so no need for anything below. ;)

Chris and Andrew. Thank you for your input. :thumb2:

I've spent this morning starting the rigging.
It's now too hot in my den, so I'll leave further work until this evening.

Eezee line stuck on with UHU G.P. glue. Then painted with a mid. grey acrylic.

Here's the progress thus far.....

Bit of a toughy, but who wants an easy life all the time?

Main mast next - When I stop sweating, that is!

Well 570, good to see you got yourself "freed" up enough to get a start on the "Rigging" ......looks the bomb Sir! :thumb2: . Rick H.

Thanks boys.

Chris. I'm sure you will solve the motor problem mighty quickly!

453. Matron arrived in the nick of time and untied the wife and I. THEN went on to demonstrate how to... Well, I'm sure it would be of no interest to you to go any further!

Tim. Not so much a figment, I sort'a took the salient points of the Hood's rigging and added a bit of my own and left the remainder off.

Thanks Rick. Still chafes a bit!

Jim. I don't like CA. it's too instant. With UHU it grips right away, but still allows a few seconds to maneuver whatever I am sticking into position.

Thanks again for the continued interest everyone. Much appreciated. :thumb2:

Yours,
Rigger Doone
