That's coming on very nicely indeed. Love the track primer a great idea. I get a similar colour using separate steps but similar colours..... Never occurred to me to combine it all together.

Andrew,
wait until you're almost out of black primer - then add to the bottle the browns, metallics, matt varnish etc - but don't forget to relabel the bottle! - it beats paying £5+ for a bottle of proprietary track primer!

This will be the last picture posted in the 'under construction' section - I've painted the green camo:

I'll add the tools & spare tracklinks before washing & weathering, adding the crane bits & finally sealing all with matt varnish. I may not get this finished tomorrow, as I've got to go to the dentist in the morning for some drilling & reconstruction :sad: I may have to recuperate the rest of the day..............

The dentist will not go well - I'm booked in for an hour appointment & she hinted that it may be a little uncomfortable...............
I've known her for 10 years + and she doesn't mince words!

A couple of years ago I had a pre molar out. During the extraction the head of the tooth came off. After that, the dentist asked the nurse to ”apply traction to the head” and they played tug of war using my head and the root of the tooth as a rope until the tooth came out…..didn’t hurt a bit to be honest, but it was a little surreal.

I once had a very resistant cap removed by the use of a dental slide hammer ( it was made of stainless steel! ), and was quite traumatic!

Tracks finished and primed...........................

I primed with my own mix of black, dark grey, brown & gunmetal, its a good base for washes & weathering - no particular formula, just add paints until it looks right! I made a bottle of this ( about 75ml ), so I can touch up after final track assembly, and on my next tracked model ( whatever it is ).
Up to now, I've been using Revell Contacta for assembly, the metal needle gives precise drops. For final assembly, I'll be going to CA - I'll use Loctite, my favoured brand ( the nozzle seems to stay clearer longer, than others ), then when all has set firmly, I'll touch up the joints with the primer.
I have the roadwheel tyres to paint, and then the fittings to add on the backplate ( exhausts etc ) before I can add the tracks & call the chassis complete.

Thanks again for the idea on this mix. I tried it on one set of my Cromwell tracks and although I need to refine it a bit, it's a great idea that's so simple. Thanks for sharing it.

Andrew,
just a matter of trial and error - just keep on adding to the bottle as you use it - doesn't matter if it changes the colour a bit - tracks colours vary anyway!

Should have had the army dentist I had for a filling.... He had spent the lunch hour in the officers bar before he got to me.... no filling done but 18 stitches across my gums top and bottom - since then have pulled my own out.
