What's on the Bench? 2021

Remember this bad boy and all his mates from my kitbash of Mirages 1/35 scale C7P Polish artillery tractor?

Well I have finally managed to get a splash of colour on them and set them up in their rightful places.

Happy modelling everyone

Wow, some top stuff here,

Great work Graeme, BTW, for us old folks, whose kit is it? Tristar, cyberhobby or Dragon's???

That 88 is looking fantastic Dan! Nice and mucked up and love the winter camo too!!!

On the news front, The Mojo has returned!!! I finally got my first retirement done and it is retroactive from July. Just gotta finish up my German retirement next. Things are looking up and I have been playing at the table once again. My last evilbay wins are being used to celebrate,

Now what are Hetzer late tracks going to do without a Hetzer to put them on? Nuthin', so ya gotta build a Hetzer for them,

The Airfix re-box of the Academy kit. I have to admit this kit is a dream to assemble and the fit is almost perfect along with minimum cleanup too. An OOB build with a couple of quick fixes here and there out the stash for it. Happy to be back on track and I hope I can catch up with all the fine stuff going on the forum......

Mr Dewire as I live and breath, it's about time you cut some plastic. Good to see you back at the bench mate.

Congratulation Steve, fantastic work.

Engineers distract again. Scratching an 8ton engineer low bed trailer to carry the company bulldozer.

Mr Dewire as I live and breath, it's about time you cut some plastic. Good to see you back at the bench mate.

Thanks Paul, you don't know how good it feels to be able to play again without the stress in trying to retire. Now if only I could catch up with your great build and all the others on here. Only a little while to go my friend. Hope you and the family are well too.

So, for all of you that thought I was just kidding about finishing this build, I have to burst your bubble. I have set up the spray booth and mounted a 6400K LED lamp to shine into it. The Hetzer is in it's final stages before it gets the hissy stick treatment. As of tonight, she looks like this,

Two pieces of etch, home made side skirts and a few pieces from Dragon out of the spares box. The other side,

IMG_2612.JPG
My new helper, Maximus looks pretty impressed too. He just wonders why the wheels aren't mounted so he has a place to lift his leg when he has to go. A few more parts to add and then a red oxide base coat. When dry, comes late war Dunkel Gelb and then see what scheme I decide on. I might even paint Maximus too, as he is kind of bland in color.

Now for a quick tip for when you paint the road wheel suspension on your Panzer, axles on a truck or other things and are tired of using tape to wrap them for painting,

IMG_2613.JPG
I use the rubber coating from 3 strand electrical wire. What's nice is it fits all axle sizes (along with other things), thick or thin. You just cut it a bit longer than the axle and go. If you should spray into it by accident, your axle still has 2/3 of it clean for gluing on the wheels. You can also use them over and over if you want, just make them a little longer to cover all bases and kits axle sizes. HTHs a bit!!!

Yeah. Could have done with that tip a couple of hours back before I did the FAMO. All my masking tape has gone useless so I ended up using some old pinstriping tape I had left over from a paint job i did a few years back. It was a bit of a fiddle.

I'll know for next time thanks.

Genius!!!

its been 2 months, wow!

Good weather and a garden always seem to trump your hobby!

A little progress, the tracks done and sprayed

As for the weld seams!!

Every time I mix up a small batch of epoxy putty, there seems to be some sort of other thing that must be done, so when I return the putty has set

G'rrr!

So I built the turret instead

I shall try milliput on the weld seams as I have much more of it to waste!

Its trimming the trees at the moment so I might just get another update before??????????????????...........................

2022?

Once the weld seams are done its all paint and it would be good to prime and modulate before the garage becomes an ice box!

More soon, hopefully
