Bovington tank museum are hosting their annual Tankfest from the 17th to 20th September 2021. Single day, two day, family and premium "experience" tickets are all available.
I've just booked for the Friday and Saturday; never having been before, I want a good couple of days to explore, take photos and enjoy the experience. If anyone else is going, especially AFV/tank/armour modellers, it would be nice to meet up (I can ask for hints and tips! ;)). More details, booking and so on here. As an added bonus any full price ticket purchase gets you an annual pass too!

Can't go this year but have been previously. Can't afford doing two days.... Have a great time.

Too far for me as it's one of those places I would love to visit:crying:

You’ll love it. ive been to the museum a couple of times and what always strikes me is how crude the WW2 kit actually is. My favourite is the “old” hall where exhibits are not quite as “arranged” as the first hall.
Last time I went was to the Tiger event because I wanted to see the Elefant. Never been to tank fest though, bet you’ll love it.
The shop isn’t bad either (well, it wasn't last time I went)…..had some good bargains.

Go on you know you want to!

In all seriousness when we went down for the 2018 Tank Fest we got a cheap room in a Premier Inn on the edge of Poole.

Thanks guys. I've got a nice room nearby via Airbnb, and looking forward to a couple of days of it. I looked at the shop, gulped, and looked away. I could come home so poor...

I've quite a backlog already though. Have a look at my stash posted in this thread. I could build for years, and still not finish! That said, i do really want to build a Panzer!... ;)

well Dale what do you want to build ?
chris
I'm doing the Dingo just now. Will decide what to move onto next after that. I've a little stack of possibles, and a really old jeep to finish. Whatever it is I'll post on here.

A fantastic event. So many well preserved and/or restored tanks from all eras. WWI, WWII, cold war and modern. You need a good few hours to see all the museum has to offer, and can spend a good deal more time here. Tankfest is a great display too with mock battles, lots of pyrotechnics and vehicles involved. The museum is educational and inspirational. Highly recommended for all armour enthusiasts. Just go already :)

Tiger 131 has been a runner since 2003 Chris. The restoration was completed in 2013 and she was the only thing worth seeing in the awful film Fury released in 2014.

131 is a beauty too. I quite enjoyed the film, but viewed it purely as entertainment. One good thing about it though, along with video games like World of Tanks and so on - it introduces another generation of enthusiasts. It was good to see quite a few younger faces at Bovvi.
Also got some good pics of 131. If anyone wants anything posting just ask. I took hundreds of pics there, so won't post all, or it'll crash the forum!

Likewise, after a quick reckoning it's about 530.....

I'm going to do what I've done previously and that's to create a shared album on Flickr, where I host my photos, put some taster shots up on here and then include the link to the soon in the thread..... Something like this
https://www.scale-models.co.uk/thre...collections-at-old-warden-bedfordshire.36226/. If you can do something similar it means your can share all the shots.

Glad you had a great time. Junior thoroughly enjoyed it, as did I of course!! Although towards the end of display Junior was beginning to flag.

ATB.

Did I mention I had the very great pleasure to meet both David Willey and David Fletcher at Tankfest? (seperately) No? Well I did! What an honour, and icing on the cake to a great event.
