Any Body Know

You got that right Timo!.......too many eyes and too many legs and definitely too big for my liking!

I used to work with an expert in Spiders, had an eight volume set of books « Spiders of the British Isles » . Up until then I never realised how many species are native to the UK.

it was cold outside
That’s part of why you shouldn’t put them outside, AFAIK — chances are very good they won’t survive. If you’ve caught it anyway, just put it somewhere like in the loft or in the garage or some dark corner of your house.

It’s the way they move. Nothing else moves like them…..they are not of this planet……

it’s amazing how many species of insects there are in general if you start looking….let alone arachnids.

I'm allergic to wasps stings, but I've found that if I leave them alone the leave me alone. It can be difficult though...
Pete

I forget which species, but there is a spider that can run as fast as 10mph. That is scary.

Some can hunt really well….they ain’t called bird eating spiders for nothing…..they catch ‘em….then eat ‘em…..mostly frogs, toads and snakes, but birds if they can get them…..and the Goliath bird eater can have a five inch body and weigh up to six ounces. That’s about the same as a half mug of milk :anguished:

Thought of you this morning Chris when I went to do my gardening job.
On a green garden waste bin was a nest of very young Orb Webs . Probably laid last year , you've most likely seen the yellow eggs sack in your travels placed in the oddest places

So small, normally if they are under a leaf one tap and they all shoot up into a tight group.

I wanted to keep large spiders such as a female red knee tarantula . Easily kept and not aggressive. Strangely enough Christine said No , can't under stand why It would live in a sealed enclosure. :disappointed:

Camel spider Paul......Probably the largest of the species on the planet and defo the ugliest......very blood thisty as well.

And not really a true spider. Distant cousin maybe.. Any spider that can run at 16km/h is going to die in my home.

Our Australasian friends are rather quiet. They are probably thinking what a bunch of ... here hold my beer. Now this is a spider.

Probably not in mine though, I‘d never catch it…..it would be like Wile E Coyote and the damn beep beep bird…..

When I lived in Libya, camel spiders were common. They really are big b***ers! I have seen some with bodies the size of saucers, and then add in the legs !!
John.

They aren’t venomous though. They don’t have the venom delivery systems true spiders have.

Sorry to be a pain but Camel Spiders are a part of the Scorpion family and not actually a spider

Sorry to be a bigger pain, but they are of the Solifugae order. Scorpions are of the Scorpione order, and spiders are of the areneae order, so camel spiders aren’t spiders, but they aren’t scorpions either…..they are all arachnids though ;)

Yes JR, The Spider specie are slowly being whittled down to their ugly order.....all of which are Alien to this planet!! As far as I am concerned, if it has more than six legs and more than two eyes..........it's a freakin Alien bug!!!
