Marks tamiya 1/48 mosquito pr mk IV

Rick my dear friend :smiling2:I'll have you know I've built 2 ,( yes that many ) before. One even was a biplane and I managed to even to do some rigging ! The other was a more modern WW2. Fighter, managed to loose the cockpit cover ! Can you guess what they were ?

This time I'm attempting to recreate the crash landing of the plane sent to the Russians. They failed to land properly on its test flight ! The good thing is there will be some mud , no tracks , so should be enjoyable :smiling2:
Hi JR.....I remember one was one of them Rooskie "parrot" birds.....Polly wanna karpov or something like that.....

I've got the wings and engines together and now made a start on the pit, I thought I would (for some strange reason:confounded:)add some wiring to the electrical components. I've made a start by drilling hoes in the back of the radio gear and inserting brass rod, these are cut long enough to go right through so they can't drop inside, these will be the plugs/ connectors. The wires then glued into these and routed to where they need to go.20220702_184432.jpg20220702_184736.jpg20220702_185212.jpg20220702_190230.jpg

Whilst working out what wiring I'm gonna run I've found nows the time to sand the ip ready for the pe,for anyone adding this you may find it easier to remove the right hand section of the ip as this part is not to be sanded and makes it a bit awkward to sand the rest, this will be reattached after.20220702_203151.jpg

Hi Mark
It looks as if your pe set has more than just the main instrument panel. Nice work on the radio wiring, I hope some will be seen :thumb2:

Thanks Jim I'm doing a lot.more than the radio, should be able to see a fair bit, plus it's my first go at something like this so it's good practice and to be honest I'm really enjoying it :smiling: there's not that much pe really, the seatbelts I'm not using as there on the resin set.

Never tried this before but here's the first bit of wiring ,not glued in yet that'll be after paint, need a little bit of fettling but happy I could see the cable clamps let alone make them:smiling5:I've used thin aluminium sheet to make them.lot more to go yet 20220702_224247.jpg20220702_224215.jpg

Very nice "scratchery".........I sure hope it will be visible once it is closed up inside. :thumb2:

So today I've got some colour on most of the cockpit /interior, bomb doors are moulded in one part ,they have been separated in two as I think there going to be open, and for the fun of it and it will be seen through the nose I have drilled and wired the rear of the ip as well, excess wire will be removed when I decide where the ends are going. Lots of detail painting next.20220703_223310.jpg20220703_224604.jpg20220703_223927.jpg

Very impressive with that wiring Mark, really adds to the cockpit detail .

Hi Mark
Really going to town with this. Wiring up the IP is certainly super detailing. Looking great.
