Paul, lovely details mate.
Thanks Paul and Rick,Stefano,
Its name, 'CCKW,' comes from a GM vehicle code system. “C” – Year of design (1941) “C” – Conventional cab (engine in front of the driver) “K” – All-Wheel-Drive. “W” – Dual wheel rear axles. ROCO had identifying numbers for their 1/87 scale military models, early CCKW types were in the 100 range & later, much improved versions were in the 600 range. Also known as "Jimmy deuce and a halfs" or just "ducenahafs". Their load capy. was rated 2 1/2 Ton off road & 5 Ton on hard roads. I use the 600s where I can, but the 100 series is easier to convert to Engineering specific multi-purpose trucks & offers purpose built dump trucks so I use the 100 series CCKWs exclusively for engineers & 600 series trucks everywhere else. You may hear us refer to Corbits or Brockways or Whites or 6x6x6s. These are long & short wheelbase, three axle all wheel drive 6 ton trucks. IHTHs.
SteveHi everyone. The construction phase of the conversion of Dragon's 1/35 scale M7 Priest into the ones used by the Canadians on D Day, is now complete. Time to get on and do the paintwork. Happy modelling!
