boatman's 1/72 HMS Tiger C20 build

No need to be nervous Chris. Your application of logic and talent for the build will see this one through no danger.
HI YES it all worked a treat but ive got to fit on the 12 watt speaker as the 3 watt not powerfull enough only trouble its heavy an wheighs in at 12 ozs but i will fit it in the centre of the deck so no rolling probs but wont really know till she's on the wet stuff but tommow i'll be fittin in the spks into the deck so gonna be busy

Is that the right way to go Chris? Are these speakers active, powered by their own amplifier, or passive, powered by an external amplifier? if they are active then you are doing the right thing, but if they are passive, then possibly not. As I understand it, wattage in a passive speaker isn’t the volume it can put out, it is just the maximum power it will handle. A passive speaker will need a more powerful amplifier to sound louder.

In HiFi, the statistic that matters is the efficiency (usually a percentage) of the speaker. A higher efficiency means the speaker turns more of the operating power into noise. In two speakers of identical efficiency 30 watts is twice as loud as 3 watts, by the way.

Another option is to fit the 3 watt into a box and then fit the box into the ship. A bit like a music loudspeaker. That way, all the noise is projected to the front of the speaker, focussing the output and increasing the perceived noise it makes.

WELL Tim all i can say is that the gent who built the unit said there is an ampliflyer in the gun unit that will up the power of the spk an im very happy with how it sound an it will be better when built into a spk box to ampifyi the sound
