Absolutely fabulous Neil ,I think at times we've all enjoyed it more than you ,still think airfix are missing a trick here these old figures are snapped up on ebay etc when you look back at what the likes of the late Sid Horten did with these figures you included surly the market is still there ,sadly I do think now people prefer every thing shake and bake ,ill admit to being a box basher but don't mind having to do the extra bits and bobs. Its all come along way I suppose back then was all there was. Dave

I haven’t really been able to knuckle down to painting the next two figures yet, but I have been able to avoid the DIY by working on the casualties, Fusiliers 9 & 10.
This is where we left them;

I'm conscious that I've been a bit quiet on this thread lately- lots of real life going on.
I've struggled with the painting Mojo recently but this one is ready for a matt coat and assembly.


Fusilier 8 is not far behind so I will wait till he's ready before I fire up the hissy stick

I have to admit that I've been holding out on you all a bit, because whilst working on Fusiliers 9 & 10 ,(and in order to avoid doing any painting) I had a moment of madness and made Fusilier 11,



And Fusiler 12,



Fusilier 13,


Fusilier 14,



And finally…Fusilier 15!



I decided to make Fusilier 11 a drummer, once I discovered that the drums were just brass, and not decorated like British ones( I didn't fancy the painting)


I 3D printed the drum with holes perfectly spaced for the tensioning cords.
and here he is finished and ready for paint




He'll look better when I can glue all the equipment in place properly.
The drumsticks are brass rod , set in the chuck of the dremel and filed, in the absence of a lathe. I used a small piece of curtain tape, flooded with CA for the basket effect on the water bottle . As I said, I had fun threading the drum- I tried all sorts of wire and E-Z Line but I ended up using plain old sewing thread in the end. I had a bit of a job researching the correct uniform, and one option would be to paint his jacket green(which I quite fancied, for some variety). But, whether the scene is historically accurate or not, I have decided that it's at the Battle of Waterloo, just before Sergeant Ewart of the Scots Greys seizes the eagle, so his jacket will be blue.

Now you know why I needed to 3D print the hobnailed boot soles!
I have made many of the pieces of equipment already so hopefully they will not take so long to make as the others-and the lying down ones will not need quite so much work…

I’ve added almost as many figures again-I must be MAD, but I feel the scene will tell a real story now-but all that PAINTING!

My Gawd Neil!!! I'm struggling to get one fuselage together on my Halberstadt and you go and build 5 fuselages. Fantastic work Sir!!! Your attention to the tiny details is truly incredible along with the 3D parts too...

Fantastic Neil the hobby has moved on so much in recent years but figure conversions are still done the same old way just shows the old was when it comes to this cant be bettered.
Not a criticism only a observation is number 15 a relative of Buster ,Buster Gonad(via magazine) he almost needs a barrow to take his across the battlefield . Dave

Apparently so, Richard.
I don't think of myself as a perfectionist but I know it will irritate me if it's not right. I just wanted to make the situation look more desperate so I need more casualties. Plus I had a load of gaitered legs in the spares box to use up, ( all the bits are from the spares box) and I don't think I'll be doing anything else like this again- ever!
