YES Andrew you are right will do that but its suppoce to be matt paint cant understand why they have come up shiny

Blues are notoriously shiny Chris, even when they are supposed to be matt paint. Reds can be similar. They’ll look good when they are aboard though…….

HI Neil cheers for your nice comments an yes i always fit on crew figures on my ships an yes in rough wheather she would all be buttoned up an no crew seen but i like to have the crew seen so as you say it brings the ship model to life as the crew all have dutyies to perform when sailin in good wheather an my ships are
AN HI Andrew i think even though they were matt paints it maybe to do with how old they are as ive had them for 20 yrs or more so perhaps the pigment have changed over the yrs i just know now not to use them again but cant get the humbroll tinlets anymore as they have been withdrawn from sale so had to use what ive got but will try an have a look through all my paints to see if i have any matt varnish as my last lot of crew members on my norfolk look ok so if no matt vernish then they will have to go an time will wheather them but thank you Andrew for pointin it out an lookin at my officers on my norfolk ive just noticed that i havnt painted on the officers their ranks in yellow will do that when the shakes go away
I wouldn’t stress over it Chris. It’s the nature of the pigment, not the age of the paint. I’ve had the same effect on my newest little blokes using Vallejo paint. It happened with Blue, Red, and Green paints. It seems the darker colours, which are usually single pigment, are more prone to this. Lighter colours, usually made with added white, don‘t seem to suffer from this.
HI Tim no im not goin to stress over it but i do see Andrew's point so i'll have a look for some matt varnish to try an get them back to matt finish but if none then they will have to go an ive got to hope the varnish dont attack the black permant ink on the officers ties an on the crews badges so i'll just do a trail on a bit of paper an see if the ink runs if it does then no go on the figures so see what happens
Might sound silly Chris, but giving them a gloss acrylic varnish coat first will stop that happening, and make the matt varnish more reliable when you apply it. I do it all the time on my little blokes.

If you do have the shakes when painting the orficers strips just say they were RNR or was in RNVR then? (IE - Wavy Navy) :smiling5:

:smiling3::smiling3:YES Jim they are but just had to try an paint on the offierces gold braid on their sleves an got the shakes again so they wavy navy lol but i think they will look ok when on the ship but i might give them snorkkels in case she does a good impression of a sub lol but must admit i'll be glad when my boaty mate has redone his house an get some warm wheather here to get her to the pond an that will be a miricale initself if i can but still got to make up both carry cradles allways something elese to do but i'll get there just got to hope im in good health on the day
