That Farpanzer looks like R2D2s granddad…..

Fahrbare Panzerlafette … can’t say I’ve heard of that one before. The name literally just means, loosely, “mobile armoured gun mount” (interestingly, both books in the photo misspell lafette as laffete …). It reminds me more of this than of R2-D2, though:

Is there an aftermarket set with just a pair of legs sticking out of his mouth? If you ever go to London, visit the Natural History museum and see their animatronic one. It is superb, and more than a little intimidating! Even though it’s not real, you can sense the beast sizing you up for lunch. Quite disconcerting :surprised:

Couldn't agree more!!!

I've built a couple of IBG kits, particularly like the look of the Cromwell ARV.

Don’t be too hard on R2 Jakko, he fell on hard times when the acting parts dried up….

Exactly the same Chris, with one real difference. If you drop a churn you can get very wet, but if you drop a gas cylinder you can create a torpedo if the valve is knocked off……happened in a lab at my establishment. The cylinder went through three walls before it stopped…..
I've seen that happen mate, dangerous as hell but also funny as ..well you know..

Never saw it happen, but saw the after effects…..dropped a churn of double cream once though….it’s great on your food….not so nice when it’s all over your jeans on a hot day…..

Saw that happen with an acetylene bottle in Hull docks - fell from about 20ft & snapped the valve clean off- it charged around throwing showers of sparks off railway lines etc. - never seen wharfies run so fast! It eventually ran into a concrete loading ramp, but couldn't budge that! No explosion! We were on the boat deck of our ship - safe about 30ft above all the dockside action. The bottle was being delivered to us & slipped though the cargo net! Nothing to do with us - In Hull at that time ALL loading/unloading, even of ship' stores, had to be done by the Dock wharfies.........................

CO2 cylinders do similar if you don't hang onto them if you're putting a freezing charge into them prior to filling. (Fitted to life saving equipment -Life jackets, inflatable life rafts etc.) It's change of underwear time seeing a bottle disappear through numerous walls!!!!

Ta Dah! ( around £50 )

Nice but wrong scale for me :confused:

I’m surprised they didn’t go for a Wessex to complement the Gannet /Buccaneer but I expect it will be very popular.

Geoff.

That's now on my shopping list no its not because I have just been over to airfix and pre ordered it

Another fish head variant as the first release. The Airfix office must have a Navy fetish.
I'm excited about this and will order at least two. I can't wait for a Royal Air Force HAR3/3A version (there you go, got the RAF reference in the first sentence).

Pros;
Three different marks.
Four schemes.
Composite or metal rotor blades with fold option.
Five or six blade tail rotor with fold option.
FOD deflector or EAPS/SNIPS filter option.
Early or late radome.
Competitively priced compared to the Hasegawa kit.
Detailed fuselage surface.
Loads of opportunities for super detailing and after market goodies.
Opening cabin and personnel doors option.
Good level of cabin detail for an out of the box build.

Cons (I must stress these aren't deal breakers or a complaint, I recognise there are limitations to injection moulded kits but they are valid observations) ;
It's a navy cab.
No blade fold pipework.
No SACRU cargo hook.
It's still a Navy cab.

If it's as good as their Lynx...I'll take one.
