Chassis now 95% completed, a couple of small parts being painted and then there's the rear wheel arches to do. I'm leaving those for now as they are painted in the main cab colour.

They do build up into a good size chunk.
Are you going with the tamiya pale blue pearl?

It is definitely a solid chunk now that I've got everything nice and secure. I am certainly going ahead with the box colour, not sure how easy it will be but who needs easy when you can have a challenge.

I decanted the tamiya spray and air brushed it. Thinned with self levelling thinners. Lots of thin coats
Although not a transparent paint the base coat does have some effect on the final colour. Recommended to test spray on a light, medium and dark primer.

I saw your experiments with this colour so will have to try a few combinations

With the chassis virtually complete it’s time to start on the cab. Undercoat on and the seat areas sprayed black. Two shades of grey for the rest of it, there are basically three colours inside, dark grey, lighter grey and black. The seats are next up for paint, just got to decide which colour from the Scania brochure. They are nicely detailed with arm rests, seat controls, seat belts and the V8 logo. I’m replacing the PE seatbelts with ribbon ones as they look much better and I’ll attach the PE fittings to them.

Well done Mick. Getting that chassis to look as good as it does has taken a lot of skill and patience, not to mention a fair sprinkling of bad language.

Cheers Jim, I’ve certainly used some very specialist language on it. Just need to get the painting order sorted in my head

Another quick update before work spoils play again. The interior cab sections are coming together and I’ve started fixing the seatbelts in. I went with black leather look for the seats. The dashboard is also coming along nicely too, needs tidying up then it can go in. There should be a remote control unit that sits on the rear wall, that looks like a bit of scratching will be required.
