THANKS Scottie an yes i was pleased with her but them red plastic universal jionts are just not up to the job as them motors are so powerfull so i'll try an order some metall ones so more exspence an just to find out how many amps them motors are drawin we fitted in a amp meter an they pulled only 8 amps each so not to bad so today the heat was the ships undoin an hopefully next time on tug an steam day at norwich it wont be so HOT Arrrrchhh an jen says helo to you sir also ATBChris,
Despite the problems you had to day she looks completely at home on the water she is a beauty and a credit to your skills and patience. say hello to Jen for me.
Unless you have only one shaft. (I wear the T shirt on that one)!!!!!Bloody marvellous! Told you she’d be alright :thumb2: . Throwing a shaft on sea trials is nothing to be ashamed of.
She really is a testament to your skills, perseverance and talent Chris - I am in awe of your success mate!
Steve
Well done Chris mate. Been waiting for the good news. That's quite a success there.
OK, you ID'd another problem, but not a biggie. Metal joints will be way better than plastic ones. They should absorb the increased torque on the shafts!
Shame it was a scorcher for the 'sea trials' but lots of plus's from today. You must be really pleased.
MANY THANKS GUYS an yes im pleased with her as its nr all the probs sortedUnless you have only one shaft. (I wear the T shirt on that one)!!!!!
YES Jim im very pleased with Tiger so when i get them motor shafts fixed i will have two fully funckional war ships model that work an sail SO PLEASED after all them blasted probs in the build an i can the start to think about that combine but tired after the heat of the day an it was 31 deggrees c wowI am so pleased she sailed so well. OK you've got to replace plastic with metal and avoid days which are so hot but YOU'VE DONE IT :smiling2: :smiling2::smiling2::smiling2::thumb2::thumb2::thumb2:
The shaft actually ripped THE main bearing from its housing. The annoying part, (other than the terrible vibration), we had just come out of Gibraltar after a 3 month maintenance period were she was in dry dock having all our gubbins looked at!!ATB GUYS ps Doug make sure you dont break that shaft lol
chrisb
And that was half speed!!!! You've created a monster Mr Frankenstein!!! :smiling2: :smiling2: :smiling2:AN Guys SORRY some pics of her sailin are a bit blurred but it was hard to keep her in the camers veiwer at the speed she was doin at only half throttle
a really pleased chrisb
THANKS Pete apart from the heat a great dayGreat news Chris!
Shame about that U/J, but metal ones will be better.
Pete
YES Doug dont know yet what her top speed will be but i just hope that them 40 amp fuses hold out if not we was disscusin it today an some of the guys said maybe i would be better off havin a 40 amp fuse fitted to each motor but if thats the case then it will be a rewire rework but as shows are comin up with her in i will have to wait till winter time if i do it that is but as MR SPOCK says it LOGICAL LOLAnd that was half speed!!!! You've created a monster Mr Frankenstein!!! :smiling2: :smiling2: :smiling2:
THANKS Neil yes it will be a few shake down cruisers before all the weak points show but im gettin there lolChris she looks Superb!
relief all round. a few shakedowns, maybe but you'll have them sorted in no time!
WELL HI Ian yes im pleased but i sure aint goin to swop them back in them small motors that isGlad to see she sailed. A pity about the u/j popping their pins.
Running at half throttle suggests to me that you might gave been OK with the small motors and the big props.
