I have started work on the trailer. It has been pointed out on numerous sites that the trailer is completely wrong. Now as you know I have never let accuracy get in the way of my builds, but on this occasion I will bite the bullet and try and correct it.

The actual trailer body seems to be correct for a late version Sd.Anhanger 56 with the curved roof. It is the trailer chassis that is completely wrong

The kit has this




when it should look like this,



this will push me to the limits. But hey ho in for a penny in for a pound.

The trailer supplied in the kit looks like the one for a 2 cm Flak 30 or 38 (or maybe for the 2 cm Flakvierling 38 that’s in the load bed?), onto which a body has been fitted to carry the ammunition. The trailer as it should be, has the design of a regular trailer, rather than one to carry an AA gun.

Thanks Mick, I guess I got lucky it's not the finish I wanted but it could have been a lot worse.

From some online info, i found the 56 with the 52 carriage was an interim version, which could either carry a flak gun or a box that was hung from the same 3 supports on the trailer.
They were also ''macgyvered'' in the field by the engineers when they needed trailers in a hurry.

I'm really not happy with this, the gloss coat I put on has reacted with the paint giving it a horrible mottled look. Despite this I continued with it.






The load bed I am happy with but there is still work to do on it.





I am happy with the running gear. Hopefully you can make out the dirt on the chassis. Just for interest I painted the idler red oxide to show a replaced wheel, to this end the wheel rubber has not been distressed.

I remember a Canadian modeler who scratched one similar that got me hooked on WWII German trailers. Their brake & landing gear systems were pretty cool.

I have made a start on scratching the chassis they are cool and typically over engineered.

Your 52 would be easy to finish w/scratched simple ammo box w/three hooks & some doors.

I have some etch boxes on order and some resin ones. May have a go at a barrel box.

Well work has started on the trailer. The main frame and spars have been built. Next up will be the folding leg, but I need to order some more rod. Again this will not be dimensionally accurate but will hopefully be a fair representation.

Just caught up on this. It is looking absolutely superb. The varnish accident had added another level to the finish in my opinion. The whole is up there with your best, and that is a pretty rarified field. Great stuff Scottie :thumb2:
