Thanks Dave. Taking it as it comes is a good description of my approach. Once started I usually get them done. Nothing is unbuildable, it’s just that some take longer than others.

Now had the chance to have a proper look on the laptop and it looks very good indeed.

On the 'green' front, I think it looks great.......and let's face it, it would not have stayed factory fresh for very long!

I know it won't bother you that much but according to another major Brit forum, a 1:1 mix of Vallejo 70.888 Olive Grey [92] + 70.924 Russian Uniform WWII [094] is a perfect match as confirmed by Mike Starmer....he supposedly matched it to a genuine swatch.

I've started to use it because I could never quite find a single green colour I liked, plus I already had those colours in the stash and it was the easiest supposed genuine match to mix.......but most of all I use it because I like it.!!

Thank you Tim ,glad you understood what I was trying to say ,there's a awful lot of defeatisum (made up word)goes on some of them beaten by the sellotape that holds the box lid on as you say nothing is unbuildable just that some take longer than others ,to go with my favorite quote ,there's no such thing as a bad kit just some are better than others. I think you've got a cracker there proving that if you put in you get more back out ,outstanding. Dave

Hi Andrew. I used the Starmer mix for Tamiya paints for this because I dislike spraying Vallejo. However, I substituted the brown for a similar one I had in stock. Subsequent washes and dusting change it anyway, so I never get too hung up on accurate colours. There is a Cromwell at the Pegasus bridge museum that looks good in a similar colour, by the way, but it is a bit lighter. Makes a real contrast to the wall to wall OD you usually see.

We all have the same hands and eyes, it just comes down to putting the time in and learning the skills. On the other hand, I can’t do dios. I just don’t have the creativity and am in awe of those like Richard and John that turn out truly inventive scenes.

A really amazing build Tim. As others have said it's easy to forget it's not 1/35. Lovely paint job. Echo your thoughts on dry brushing, oils are best

Trouble is you cant use water based varnishes over them.

Does that apply even if the oils are totally dry?

In my experience yes Jim. There al seems to be a little residual oil, and as we know, oil and water don’t mix. Alcohol based varnishes such as Tamiya seem fine though, and once varnished you can again use what you like.

But you really need to add a reference shot with a bottle of VMC, to emphasise just how petite this is.
