And some paint, my basic Spit research for the current GB 90th Anniversary found two unusual colours, Pru blue and Pru pink, which I think were prototypes or recon / photo ops schemes? so one of them may get a run out for my Spit in the GB.

Being sick of painting then despite covering everything over, I still find dust in some of the paint. I've invested in a drying booth.

Only small problem is no timer so you have to experiment and keep an eye on the time you need. The tirpitz bits are in Mr Surfacer 1500 dry in 20 mins, so 2nd coat I'll try 15mins. Best not a spec of dust.

Never seen one of those before Bob. I have occasionally thought about taping a plastic sheet across the front of my spray booth to shut the front down after spraying, but haven’t got around to it yet. Trouble is, most of the dust probably gets pulled in by the airflow in the spray booth so not sure how effective it would be. Let us know how that goes though…..

Hi Tim

I use to leave stuff drying either in new food containers with lids or larger in the booth and then cover with a cut down bed sheet. However no matter, dust always got in despite hovering first etc. So far, so good. Will use again tomorrow for the 2nd primer coat but at 15 mins

Been wanting a turny turny table for displaying models, etc so had a look online, found this one that seemed quite good, cheaper than the Tamiya one and it has more functions. USB powered via power bank or usb mains adaptor of can have a rechargeable battery. Has different speeds, can turn clockwise or anti clockwise, can rotate 45, 180 or 360 degrees before tuning back the other way, large 8" main plate, (most I saw were only 6"). I like it.

I wondered about using our heated propagator, but the wife said nein to that brainwave.

I have a food dehydrator. I don't use it all the time but it comes in handy now & then.

I've just bought something very similar (probably the same product with the usual Chinese rebranding). Slightly miffed that it doesn't do continuous rotation, but the varying speeds are nice.

Nice idea!! I've got a vey large tupperware box I use that does quite nicely, at least for smaller parts

Hi all

Hope you're all well. So a few acquisitions/arrivals from last weekend...two of which show you what a great hobby this is!

---------------------------------------

A while back I picked up the 1/72 'quick build' Hobby Boss A-10 vey cheap but it has no ordnance. I'd not found any ordnance in some half-hearted searches but last week I randomly discovered this existed and managed to snag it from a LHS for about 1/3 off the usual price and so it's still cheaper than one with weapons.😁

These were picked up at the Peterborough show last week (pics to follow)....not the best but for what I want - not plane related!! - they should do the job!

Now onto the first of what makes this a great hobby.

When I was doing my first Corsair last summer, our very own @Geoffers offered me some spare decals for if I ever did the shorter winged UK version. Anyway he remembered his promise a couple of weeks ago (I had completely forgotten about his very kind offer) and these, plus some spare Revell decals duly arrived this week.....and he wouldn't even let me pay the postage!

So Geoff thank you very much indeed!! Most generous!!!

The second thing that makes this a great hobby.....

At the Peterborough show last weekend, our very own @Richard48 pulled this out from under the table and gave it to me for nothing as a gift...would not accept a penny....so my 2nd phantom in almost as many weeks!!

Thanks again Rich! Very much appreciated!!!

Since I'm doing more car models lately I thought I'd treat myself to a painting stand. This is similar to the Tamiya one but has more adjustment for different width bodies, and also height.
