    Taping

In humid conditions (not something I suffer with often here in the UK) I would give acrylics two or three days to fully cure before masking. For solvent based paint, like enamels, I would give it even longer. It might be worth painting a test piece at the same time as the model and making...

    Taping

What paint are you using? I’m wondering if it’s not dry and the solvents are affecting the tape. Tamiya tape is gold standard in my experience. Decorators tape is an absolute no no though, sticks too well, and can weld itself to the surface.

    All done

Fantastic John. I’m sure it will be fine going forward, but make sure you do what you are told 😁

    Adventures in resin 3D printing

Seems logical to me. I think I’d have the same boundaries Andy. I don’t think there is a bottom, though others with more experience in this area than me (not hard 😁) may say different.

    Bogged down Boris

Great stuff. Ron must be smiling somewhere. He’ll be sat at his celestial workbench, brush in hand, musing about pizza base polystyrene and crushing wheetabix as we speak…..nodding in appreciation. After all, he’s got the dedicated airbrush user to use a hairy stick….

    Adventures in resin 3D printing

I can imagine the copyright issues around printing to be a bit convoluted Andy. Just musing aloud, if you buy a file for personal use only, print some for yourself, then later decide you don’t want them, can you sell those prints on? It’s a world away from buying a personal file and...

    Brian's Caldercraft 1/72 HMS Victory

Around 2000 of that is stores, crew and assorted stowage though. 200 tons was armament…. The actual ship was about 1500 tons. Still a lot of wood……and incredibly impressive when you think it was all moved and controlled by muscle and wind…

    Workbench, show us yours

Takes a lot to beat a decent office chair with good lumbar support and wheels. You can adjust the height to suit the job as well.

    Workbench, show us yours

Looks good bud. Just wondering though……..if that’s the chair you are using while working it could be a cause of your back issues?

    The things you see 🧐

Er, my windows laptop does have a touch screen…..and a touchpad that can be used instead of a mouse. Do keep up chaps 😂 PS, I don’t use either as I far prefer a cordless mouse….

    You can't park there mate!

Looks really good Andy. Looking forward to the arty pictures…..

    Brian's Caldercraft 1/72 HMS Victory

Well they look good to me, though you appear to have missed a knot on the second one up, fourth in from the right.

    Workbench, show us yours

Got to be said John….how in earth dies that spray booth actually pull any air in. The filter is basically paint……it needs a wash in the sink.

    What's on the Bench 2025

Looking good bud. Unusual subject as well.

    You can't park there mate!

Loving the new figures Andy. Several cuts above the red chaps….. Water looks great as well. As to your ground cover textures. Wot! No Weetabix? Seriously, I was never sure if Ron was joking when he said he used that…and now I don’t want to know. I’d rather leave it as part of the myth...

    1/35 TAMIYA StuG 1V

Looking good John. Paint will bring it to life nicely. Agree with Joe ref fillers. Acrylic fillers work well for cracks and seams, but laquer fillers, like Tamiya, are best for dents and divots. They bind into the plastic and sand to a feather edge.

    1/1 paintwork

Bikers are almost as bad as guitarists. One isn’t enough…..that 750 is lovely though, just what a real bike should look like…won’t stop well in the wet though….

Love the Honda. I had its baby brother CB550 four in metallic bronze for a couple of years.

    HST paint job

Looking good. Bet you get a sharper finish on the yellow than Hornby managed…. Flesh colour is also a good undercoat for yellow, by the way. I use it while brush painting in the little lads…gives a nice egg yellow finish rather than the sulphur yellow that usually results.

    HST paint job

I’m sure you’ll crack it Andy. The colour on the full sized trains is pretty close to GWR loco green I think, but as you know I don’t get too anal about exact colour matches. As to AI, I’ve found it really helpful for technical advice when setting up software etc, but not tried it for...
