Casting epoxy resin, any good? how to get rid of bubbles?

I happened to see something made from clear epoxy resin today, and I wondered if anyone used it at all? Its the sort that comes as a two pack, eg: resin and a hardener which is then mixed and apparently you build up layers let it set, add another layer, etc until you get the depth you need. It...

What do you do with waste sprue?

I now keep a small stash of old/spare sprues, for scratch building, stretching for antennae, etc, but its only in a small container, about 6" x 2" x 10", but thats plenty enough for me. Gives me plenty to play with if I need it.....The rest goes in the recycling bin. Cheers

Dragon to no longer make Model Kits?

    Russian T26 Tank - Revell - 1:35 - (WOT's version)

Bit more progress.... Tank riders painted up a bit more, not finished yet, but just some tidying up to do. Main build now pretty much done, tracks are on, and gave them a rusty red colour, all the little bits now added to the chassis/body, eg: track covers, pioneer tools, rear exhaust painted...

    Tamiya Fireblade

When I did my Honda Blackbird, it had the "chromed" silver exhaust and few other bits, I soaked them in neat, uncoloured bleach overnight and that got rid of it all so I had a nice clean base to start with.... Yours is looking very good so far mate. 8-)

    Russian T26 Tank - Revell - 1:35 - (WOT's version)

First top coat is now on the main body. chassis and turret, and the tank rider figures have now been primed and started painting the uniforms. Tracks painted up (primed and then first coat).... they have some ready made pieces and some singles that you have to assemble, eg: curves at edges...

My first real attempt at military modelling

Hi and welcome, I will follow along as I like a diorama every now and again myself. Yours sounds interesting, you mention pyrotechnics, so will there be lighting, or other "effects" etc?

    Russian T26 Tank - Revell - 1:35 - (WOT's version)

Should have added/clarified that the arm on the box art (in the picture above)actually looks ok, but the arm that is actually supplied in the box on the sprue is much straighter, so no matter how you attach it, it just makes the figures look like he's reaching! Hence why I changed it....

    Russian T26 Tank - Revell - 1:35 - (WOT's version)

Primed up most parts. Starting to come together. Decided to add a couple of Russian tank riders, as I have a MiniArt figure kit. Made up the figures but one had a weird looking arm! He's supposed to look like his left arm is leaning on something, but to me it just looked too long and at a...

    Tamiya Fireblade

Watching along. Only done one bike myself (Honda Blackbird) and did not make the best job of it TBH, as it was early on in my re-entrance into scale modelling, so would maybe like another crack at another one. Looks like you are on top of things, its looking good mate....

    Russian T26 Tank - Revell - 1:35 - (WOT's version)

Not had chance to do much last couple of days, (playing with my new PlayStation PS5 Pro, Lol!) but managed a bit last night. Almost finished the wheel/suspension assemblies... bit fiddly, but ok. Also done the drive wheels....and exhaust.... Managed to bodge the missing rods that had...

Vent: I made a model plane that was really crap

Yep, been there, done that, etc. If you are not feeling it, maybe put it to one side and just start something else, you can always go back to a model, or use it for spares, or use it to practice on, etc. And, as the old proverb goes, we tend to learn more from our mistakes, then we do from our...

    Russian T26 Tank - Revell - 1:35 - (WOT's version)

Yes, was good of Revell.....I do have spare decals, but no Russian ones, think this is the first Russian kit, of any sort, that I've done....

    Taping

I generally use Tamiya tape, but have also recently used liquid mask, (Vallejo) which seemed to work well. I think good prep is key, eg, make surfaces are really clean before taping. Is painting with brush, paint away from the tape ends, so paint does not go underneath.

    Russian T26 Tank - Revell - 1:35 - (WOT's version)

Have already made a start a couple of days ago, so main chassis /body already assembled along with the turret. A few small gaps, but nothing major TBH. I have noted that two (one on each side) of the main plastic "prongs" are missing, (that hold the lower wheels/suspension...
