Going awol

FROG 1/72 de Havilland DH 60 g Gypsy Moth
With a big push this has now got over the line .I started this morning fitting the interplane struts then it was out with the bait elastic for the rigging .First theres a cross bracing between the two struts on each wing then the four cross braces each side were fitted. I had a bit of a job...- yak face

Thanks guys , it wasnt a straightforward job but I enjoyed it nevertheless . I know some people arent fans of the later spits but I think this mark looks great , really clean lines . Cheers tony- yak face

Scale indicator, which way is correct? eg: / or :
I tend to use / rather than : , no real reason . On the kit boxes most makers use the slash , as far as I can tell only Airfix use the colon and then at certain periods they have used the slash too .- yak face

Well the 50 odd year old decals performed brilliantly , they took a bit of soaking but were tough as old boots , not much carrier film and no yellowing . They have all been applied now just leaving them to fully dry then its going to get a sealing coat of varnish , not sure yet if its going to...- yak face

All sorted now and calling this done . The last bits were added , very light exhaust staining applied and a little paint chipping . I’m happy with how it turned out given the really critical reviews it has , I expected it to be worse . Anyways heres a few pics to finish the thread , more...- yak face

There is a slight bit of texturing on the kit part dave but I think the camera has added to it a bit too . It doesnt look like that in real life . The camera on this new iphone 16 pro is too clever for its own good - it alters the images sometimes without asking , very annoying , and the makro...- yak face

This has now had a first coat of Klear to seal the paint and will be getting another to give a good base for the decals. Ive started painting Amy , just a bit more work to do round the face and the goggles . Once ive got the decals on then its time for the rigging and control cables !:eek:- yak face

Its now had a light panel line wash and a couple of coats of varnish to seal everything in . The rear view mirror has been fitted , not the kit part but a nail art gem which has the shiny silver back . Next up is some exhaust staining and a bit of light chipping then the cockpit can be unmasked...- yak face
