Time for the green to go on . I know the early war spits and hurricanes were painted with rubber mat templates so had a hard edge on the camo but the later war ones look to have been sprayed freehand and have a soft edge -so blu tack at the ready .
The photo I found reinforces this , also illustrating what was touched on in another thread about the regularity of the camo pattern . This pic shows four different spits of the same mark and squadron and all the patterns are slightly different so dont worry about matching up exactly with the kit schematics . I mentioned this but it has probably come up elsewhere, but that photo really shows the differences, you can clearly see the green on the tail is lower down on the second aircraft than the first. As they say, a picture paints a thousand words and all that.

It’s looking good. Always good to get the camo on, the light at the end of the tunnel.

Decals now on . Although printed by Cartograf - usually a guarantee of a trouble free application - they were a bit of a nightmare . I dont know if they were old or what but they took absolutely ages to release from the paper and the smaller / thinner ones were prone to breaking up.
I started with the wing walk lines which just disintegrated so replacements had to be found. Luckily the spare decal stash had some old Airfix ones which had a black outline all round and carrier film over it . Once this was sorted the rest of the kit decals werent too bad , just a couple of small stencils breaking up a bit but repairable.
Once theyve fully dried its going to get a sealing coat and then I’ll have a look at some light staining. IMG_6975.webpIMG_6976.webp

Its now had a light panel line wash and a couple of coats of varnish to seal everything in . The rear view mirror has been fitted , not the kit part but a nail art gem which has the shiny silver back . Next up is some exhaust staining and a bit of light chipping then the cockpit can be unmasked and the final few bits fitted . The cockpit door I cut out has been painted up and the release lever added - the last bit ( that I wanted to use ) of the Eduard pe . IMG_6983.webpIMG_6982.webp

All looking spendid. The decals look like they have settled in to the lines properly as well.
