    Blast from the past

Just had to go through some old boxes, and came across some old bits and pieces. First off - Airfix? Anyone remember them doing these sort of figures, non-posable in about 1/32 or 1/35 (can remember the 1/72 boxes of 40 odd) Then also some of these 1/32 fully posable Can't remember when I...

    unconventional modelling materials list

Thinking that I might have to try these ones for casting, as the Revell Plasto is just too soft to work with (having a 50% shatter rate) and it's so annoying to have filed to the point of 'almost there' to have the bit fall apart (top one is now in 3 bits!)

    General Shortage of Models?

So that's how they freed it!

    Tamiya 1/35 Krupp Protze

This is now 99% done, just needs a few bits and pieces finishing off for the dio that it's heading for (tarp, figures etc.) probably will be messing around with the crates and other bits and bobs in the load area. Will have to get some 'daylight' photos as well (overhead led doesn't give the...

    1/35 Krupp Protze

Now got to the frustrating bit - had two bits break as 1) getting one off the sprue and 2) cleaning it up But on the whole, it's coming along, and nearly there - next photos will be in the 'completed' section Then it's onto the dio!

    1/35 Krupp Protze

Under the 'cold, hard, light of day' (and on the dining table) the photos actually make it look 'ok-ish'

    1/35 Krupp Protze

Starting to get onto the last few bits, so the weathering onto the bits that I won't be able to get to easily has started with the inside of the front mudguards, still needs some dry brushing with lighter colours when the first coat has dried out and set Loadbed is just about done, just needs...

Incoming for a future (Russian) project

From Poland - prices were good and postage not too bad for the three (different just for one though!) Just got to figure out a scenario for them!

    1/35 Krupp Protze

Spent today getting the bonnet right, doesn't look too bad now Doing the load bed (happy with the way it's turned out, hopefully the 'dirt' in the corners will stay put!) And getting some 'fiddly bits' done

    1/35 Krupp Protze

Front end together, wasn't happy with the join - had big gaps, so got the filler out, just got to re-emphasise the bonnet/cab join (paint covered the initial attempt) Wondered what the 'half circle' was at the top of the bonnet, almost filed it off, thinking that it was a mold mark, luckily I...

    1/35 Krupp Protze

Wheels ready to be fitted - fairly happy with them, though after a good time filing them, still didn't produce the desired/correct profile for the rear tyres, still a little bit rounded, but without a lathe, didn't dare take them too far, otherwise I might have ended up with 'twenty pence'...

    1/35 Krupp Protze

Well, it's getting there Despite the fact that it seems that no matter how much I check for seam lines, first appearance of paint brings them out! At least they're out of sight at the moment - keep practicing for the bits that will be on view!

Lack of 1/35 WW2 Soviet soft skins?

Looking through the kits on offer, seems to be very few 'softies' about - found about 3 different cargo trucks, but nothing much smaller (one kit of a 'captured' German kubelwagon) surely they had softies - yes, could get a 'Lend Lease Studebaker' but that seems like 'cheating'.

    1/35 Krupp Protze

Starting to go together, little bits of filler needed - almost had a disaster, and fitted the rear hooks the wrong way, luckily spotted before too long! Working out where the boots will have scratched up the floor, and the rear suspension arms are a bit fiddly to get the seam marks off!

Son has been rubbing my nose in it

Talking about doing the Krupp Protze, and he pulls out one of his old models, done without any magnification......mutter mutter mutter Apparently, the gold was improved by a brown ink wash - now you know why I'm happy with what I normally turn out!

    1/35 Krupp Protze

The kit is 'copywritten' for '78, the paperwork for '87 but the molding is good, not any flash even on the thumbs of the figure, haven't spotted any sinkholes (yet!) either. Wondering what I'll foul up on it now! :smiling5: :tears-of-joy:

    1/35 Krupp Protze

Arrived today, just got to get my head into place. Surprised to see that there's a sprue of 'weapons & equipment' with it (reckon that the painting of the Luger and Walther pistols is going to be fun!) molding looks good. Thinking that I'm going to have to take my time with this.

Tweezers & the difference they make!

Having for years been using common 'household' tweezers for modelling (that I probably half inched from my mothers home set!) over the weekend I ordered in a set of 'watchmakers' tweezers (I've got some for actually working on watches - but wont be putting them anywhere near the models!) nothing...
