Aoshima Tiny 1:2000 scale USS Missouri

Final pics here, nice little kit, if very simple, bit fiddly due to the size of the small parts, but for its diminutive scale, it has a decent amount of detail. Thoroughly enjoyed building it TBH.

    Pushing Back .......

Lol takes me back to when I was a surveyor, I'm checking the work mate, did you do structural calcs for those timbers? Gotta take the loads... (y)

My first car! Airfix - 1:43 - Aston Martin DB5

Pics, not quite the final pics, as it needs its final gloss coat and the decal s(number plates adding), but its almost done. You can see the paint looks a bit flat, so hopefully the gloss coat will left it a bit.... Added some very light chrome to the door handles, and front and rear badges and...

Aoshima Tiny 1:2000 scale USS Missouri

Think this little tiny ship is now done. Red hull lower, dark grey upper, some light grey and flat black highlights, not a lot of detail TBH, but it was a nice little "filler" kit whilst I was in between big projects. Pics....

My first car! Airfix - 1:43 - Aston Martin DB5

The car is now assembled, added the headlight lens with tiny dabs of crystal klear and they did not fog up, so thats good. Added the front and rear bumpers, had to file the little connection tabs down a bit, but then they went on ok. Added the front and rear screens, luckily no fogging, I did...

My first car! Airfix - 1:43 - Aston Martin DB5

Bit more progress today.... Finished off the internal painting last night and got everything assembled on the main chassis, seats, steering wheel, front bulkhead and dash, internal sides, engine block, exhausts, drive shafts, etc. Also filled the wheels/tyres with some thin liquid filler...

My first car! Airfix - 1:43 - Aston Martin DB5

Lol, No, as that, for me, would be a Ford Anglie 1100E, hand painted matt black, bought for £50..... It just about drove, then it sat outside our house for 12 months and I eventually sold it for £25 scrap. But, the brakes had seazed in the meantime, so about half a dozen of us had to rock it...

Cheap Amazon Magnifying lamp, no longer working!

Lol, this is quite an old post from when I first got back into modelling (Nov 24)! I've since sorted my workbench area and lighting.... I actually bought a much better illuminated mag lamp, (after the one above) which I now just use as a lamp, as its very good and adjustable, plus I bought some...

Cheap Amazon Magnifying lamp, no longer working!

Yes, I know, buy cheap buy twice, etc, as an ex plumber I still have some of my tools from my apprentice bag from 40 years ago, eg: Rothenberger, Footprint, Stanley, etc. When you rely on your tools for a living, you need them to be reliable. But I do still sometimes succumb to online...

My first car! Airfix - 1:43 - Aston Martin DB5

Started this couple of days ago, so have already made some progress. Primed everything up, Citadel chaos black, kept everything on the sprue, just because its quite small and theres not many parts, so may as well paint them on the sprue as is.... Left it for a day to harden, then started...

My first car! Airfix - 1:43 - Aston Martin DB5

This is, I think, my first scale model car kit..... I have a vague memory of the old Airfix Bentley kit when I was a Yoof, but I think it was a mate's, and not sure we ever finished it? So may have done one, but this will be my first proper car kit. Its the Lidl special, eg: old vintage airfix...

Aoshima Tiny 1:2000 scale USS Missouri

Have now primed the little ship up, Citadel chaos black.... Started painting the hull (hull red) had two coats but will prolly need another. I will be doing the upper deck/structures, etc in dark/light grey. Hope to pick out a few little details, buts its so bloody small!

    Latest Acquisitions (2026)

Maybe I'll try a combo build, eg: stick the wings off the comet on the gazelle...... or summit! A franken build....

    Latest Acquisitions (2026)

Been going into my local Lidl for last two weeks trying to get the Airfix special offer kits, the old vintage mould ones, but they've had none.......until today! So I bagged myself this little triple.... I know that everyone seems to be moaning about how bad the Gazelle and the Comet are, old...

Aoshima Tiny 1:2000 scale USS Missouri

Kit is now made, will add a bit of filler between the lower/top hull as there is a small gap. Will then prime up and start painting, will be fiddly as its so small, but we'll give it a go and see what it turns out like....
